Personally, I think that Gossip Girl is a terrible example for young girls and they should not be watching it. Shows like this and others are part of the reason why there are so many teen pregnancies these days. I agree with what you mentioned a while ago Perez, films like Juno aren't helping anything. I'm only 14 years old but I happen to be one of the few smart people in this age who aren't stupid enough to watch bullshit shows like this.
gossip girl is for fucking idiots =)

    19. Saman says – reply to this

      19

No, I would not let my tween watch that, unless I wanted her to come back pregnant at 14….gross!

Re: mady – If you're so smart, you should understand that it's choices and upbringing that cause children to act out, not television shows. Anyone who's so weak-minded that tv will ruin their moral code shouldn't be allowed around the general population in the first place.

    38. kim says – reply to this

      38

      I like the show anyway

    41. kc says – reply to this

      41

Why not? Its just a show. News flash to all the up tight parents who think they can control EVERYTHING their child does. ITS A NEW DAY AND AGE. Things arent the same as they were 20, 10 even 2 years ago. I think that the teens of parents who are super strict and think that ads such as these are so terrible, end up rebelling more than other teens who have more lenient parents. I personally CANT stand parents who look down on stupid things like this and think they are above and better than this., Its Pop culture people. Geez.

    48. LALA says – reply to this

      48

i don't think this show is inappropriate because of the sex scandal stuff, because teens see that EVERYWHERE! seeing it in one more show is not going to influence them anmore then watching a music video.

i don't like this show because it pushes gossip against peers. highschool is hell without people pressuring you to be popular and cool. this show just makes it eaier for girls to make other girls lives hell.

celebrity gossip and highschool is gossip if anyone is wondering why ni'm on this site if i hate gossip. hollywood allows us to see into their lives, they ask for it when they go into hollywood.

It's bullshit shows like this that encourages our society to be even bigger whores than what they are. It's no wonder no one takes today's women seriously, with shows like these all women are made out to be is nothing but a fuckrag. Makes me proud to be a lady lol…

      51

Using conservative criticisms to advertise is a pretty good F-U to the system.

But this shit is wack. Gossip Girl is innappropriat? Sorta like Texas Chain saw Massacre when it first arrived in theatres, right?

Scaramouche is more mind blowingly innappropriat than this trendy ish.

      56

its what people want to see….its ok. and its not like sex is a huge part of the show. unlike other stupid teen shows, gg has plot thus doesnt fill its show with just sex. sex sells…fill then ads with it but then fill the show with quality to make the audience stick around. thats what gg does…..brillant

    57. ang says – reply to this

      57

i love love love the show. but i am in my mid-20s. no way would i let a tween watch this! Or even an early teen! its way racy and definitely not real life.

    58. p*vix says – reply to this

      58

I don't care how old you think you are at 14 15 and 16 but you are still a child and children should not be subjected to this kind of shit. the legal age is 18 people, 18! if they thought at 15 or 16 that you were an adult, they make the legal age 15 or 16. no matter how grown up you like to act you are a child and still have a whole lot of learning to do. grow up before you engage in grown up activities, be a kid for christ sake

you realize that by responding in such a way, as in blogging about it or responding to the blog the advertising company has already done their job. Regardless of the fact if you like the show or not it is on your mind. The ad was created to be provocative. You just let them win and you didnt even know it. ha oh people, when will you learn. p.s. its a parents job to teach sex ed and responsibility not a television show. In the end it wont matter what the writers of gossip girl think sells… if a parent does their job. I personally like the show, its a guilty pleasure…. and yea it shows teenagers having sex, but so did shakespeare in a little play, you might know it, its called romeo and juliet. MAYBE WE SHOULD BAN HIM???? ha ha

Wouldnt let tweens watch this, no way in hell. And I predict abortions or pregnancies for the ones in the show, how's that for going out on a limb? Sex sells, it'll fly and give tweens all sorts of ideas if any of them arent already doing this crap but again, nope, no way, no how would I let them watch.

No thing is more risque than the show SKINS…Gossip Girl is a lame excuse for SKINS!!!!
I wish SKINS was shown here in America. But instead we have Gossip Girl which is unrealistic(-drugs). I grew up in a very rich town and go to a school where everyone drives brand new beamers and Mercedes. And only wears True Religion jeans and Juicy. But Gossip Girl is still not an accurate portrayal of Rick kids, unless you consider teenagers acting like them to mirror the what they do in the show.

    65. 65

I would feel a bit uncomfortable watching it with my kids but hey…

    66. Lexie says – reply to this

      66

First of all, the show is incredibly stupid. Secondly, her "O" face isn't doing anything for that ad campaign. Thirdly, this shit will be cancelled after the 3rd season. Trust.

    67. 67

I think it's inappropriate for TWEENS, but after the age of fifteen, I don't think it's bad. Then again, I'm eighteen and I don;t have any kids so I'm not an authority on this subject. I LOVE THIS SHOW, though.

I won't watch until they do full frontal, double penetration and money shots. And maybe a sanchez in honor of Perez. Until then it's just a big tease.

Are they trying to attract the horny tween boys or who??

To the one that says things arent the same as our parents day. LOL Oh yes they are, how do you think you got here?? They sat up and talked each other into "doing it" just so they could have a baby? Uh, hell no, babe, you are the after effect of a hot steamy, sex filled night with your mom and dad. things are exactly the same. LMBO

    72. Puh-l says – reply to this

      72

Re: mady – I totally agree with you!!! Yes it is just a show but it's also a really bad example for teens! It's setting an example that high school should be a drunken, sex-filled romp with cliques lol.

    73. cw says – reply to this

      73

The marketing tactic is great! Would I let my tween (if I had one) watch it? Hell, no! Would they watch it behind my back? Most likely. Would I watch it (based on these ads)? Hell, yes!!

    74. Rach says – reply to this

      74

Wow, I despise this show. I read all the books *and was made fun of for reading them last year* and now everyone LOVES the series, that is nothing like books. Also, how stupid are you? Advertising things that basically just say this show talks about sex is going to make you love be SO many parents.

    80. 80

oh come on. its not even aimed at tweens and if they are watching this they should be controlled. at that age i was scared to watch steamy things like this because i was scared to get in trouble and that was just 5 years ago. im the characters' ages and just because they do it doesnt mean i will. give us a little credit people.

      84

I love this show..however, whether it's made for tweeney boppers is really up to the parents. Who even said this show was made for tweens? Kids these days will watch anything regardless and take it how they want it. I'd rather my kid watching this show then becoming an airhead off too much Hills reruns. Just like Juno…to people who are mature enough to handle a movie thought it was a feel good film..while other teens/tweens decided to get pregnant afterward. I didn't think that movie sent a bad message just like I don't think Gossip Girls will either. It just sucks that people take things the wrong way.

      Re: umm..
Choices and upbringing do indeed play a role in children acting out. But TV, magazines, etc are more influencial to young children, tweens, and teens. If you think people "shouldn't be allowed around the general population" then you are basically exiling millions of people. Are you saying that there are millions of bad parents? I find that extremely hard to believe.

    91. gossi says – reply to this

      91

Hell no, I would never let a tween watch this show. It's so boring and desperate that every show on tv has to turn to sex to get attention. Are there no more creative writers in Hollywood?

Re: FRANN – Are you serious???? Ohh please. You cant prevent your children from having sex by censoring the type of shows they watch or the type of movies they see. The best you could do is teach them to value themselves, and hope that they grow up practicing the right values. Dont be frieken ridiculous. If their going to have sex , their going to do it anyways…watching a show or not watching a show isn't the deciding factor.

      97

I tried watching this show (first episode), but I couldn't really get into it. From what I overhear and read, I can see why it can be appealing to younger viewers, but no - I would never let my kids (I have stepdaughters 9 & 7) watch this show - even when they get into their teens. It glamourizes teen sexuality & that's really irresponsible right now. Sure some kids are going to experiment with sex, but THEY DON'T HAVE TO. There is alot of peer pressure from other kids who have negligent parents, and stupid young people in entertainment (Miley Cyrus & Jamie Lynn Spears) who flaunt sexuality and pregnancy. Tweens & Teens are free to find and experience sexuality, but shows like this need to ease up on the racy content. If they're going to show it - make sure it's responsible and chock full of sex education. Showing the passion of teen sex is giving the wrong ideas to dumb impressionable kids.

@mady: i totally agree. i am the same age and like, really, at school and stuff kids talk about mature things like sex and guys act all horny and at parties, people want to have sex. i, obviously have not… i'm thankfully not a skank:) but anyway. i think that these shows like gossip girl are telling people that it's normal and there's really no consequence. you have sex with someone in a limo, and everything is fine and dandy a week later. this show started off alright (when i say that, i mean… the first and even maybe the second episode) but now it's total crap, all about sex. the main audience for this show is teens like me, and i don't blame the producers for aiming this show at that audience, but when you know kids are attracted to something, could you maybe include a lesson or a ”moral to the story”? would it kill anyone if this show had any point or meaning?
