Michael Verdugo, a Hollywood, FL police officer has been placed on administrative leave this past Wednesday.
Some of you might recognize this hunky piece of man meat!
Officer Verdugo, also known as Mikey V., was a recent contestant on HGTV's Design Star.
But that's not the reason for his forced leave.
Turns out the hottie cop is said to have appeared in a 1996 gay bondage film, called Rope Rituals.
The film was apparently made 5 years before he joined the police force back in 2001.
Hollywood Police have only said, ”Verdugo has been placed on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of a fact-finding Internal Affairs investigation."
As for Verdugo's attorney, Al Milian, he claims "My client has done nothing wrong. He has served the community of Hollywood with honor and distinction for over 10 years. The only reason someone would criticize my client is that he publicly has a different lifestyle."
Milian adds, "My client has done absolutely nothing wrong. Nothing unethical. Nothing to bring discredit upon his police department, except serve his community.”
The 34 year old Verdugo has not been accused of any crime as of yet, which he shouldn't be.
And if it does turn out that he was the same guy in the gay porn video, the faces are the same as well as identical tattoos, then so what?
That doesn't take away from his ability to function as a cop.
And interestingly enough, back in 2007 the Broward-Palm Beach New Times published a story describing Verdugo's problems within his police department after it was discovered he was gay following a disturbance involving him and his partner, another Hollywood cop.
Milian adds, ”When you're gay in America and involved in the military or law enforcement, it hasn't gone to a level playing field. That's coming from someone who served 18 years in the reserves.”

ONE MOVIE! and from what I understand he was only in one scene and there was any REAL sex in it! this was over a decade ago and he was young and probably needed some cash, it happens so often to young people in desperate situations. total bs…police depts do very detailed, involved and extensive backround investigations as part of the process to join the force…its not like mcdonalds or sears. most app processes take several months to complete for the dept, so they had to have known about his little movie, and they hired him anyway.

This seems to me that the department is trying to tarnish his reputation. Even in that article about his previous troubles within the department. He made that film (allegedly) way before he was a cop. It shouldn't contribute whatsoever to his current position.
I have many close friends in the Army Guard and police force. It has always been a policy of dont ask dont tell. I am friends with people that are gay and serve in the military and have had no issues. I dont see how they can suspend him unless he was making others uncomfortable with some unwanted sexual harrassment, which I highly doubt. It is not only illegal to discriminate against him for his lifestyle choices, it is also unethical. Who cares who he goes home with as long as he serves his community to the best of his ability.

Allow me to elucidate: the issue is not his orientation or proclivities but that he concealed his past. Police officers (at least in Canada) are subjected to intense scrutiny before being admitted into the force. One such reason is so they cannot be blackmailed or extorted into being compromised agents of the law. See how that might be problematic?
I have watched this show and there was always somethng off putting about him that I could not warm up to. I like Mat, the blonde lady and the dark haired lady(for the most part) but this guy just didn't work for me.

Unfortunately he probably lied and didn't tell the police force about it when he applied for the academy. Although it is his own business, having something like this in his past and having it hidden could have made him a candidate for blackmail by criminals. This probably has more to do with his discrimination lawsuit and not just because he is gay. But now who cares because he will have a huge career in design in Florida and every old queen down there will hire him to decorate their houses.
