Tom Cruise's career is on the decline and he doesn't seem to know it!
According to a new report, Tommy boy lost the lead role in Columbia's pix flick Edwin A. Salt.
What? Why would someone turn down Tom Cruise???
Well, producers didn't want to pay the fee Tom was demanding.
Looks like Hollywood doesn't think he's worth the $20 million per pic he used to get!
The studio is supposedly eyeing Tom's friend Will Smith as the man to take on the lead.

He has to look at John Travolta's career to get a hit. Travolta hit rock bottom, then crawled his way back up, taking supporting roles, etc. Will has TC beat all around. TC's movies did well when it was alot of action. WS can do comedy, drama, etc. On top of it, he is short and now slightly out of shape. He has to be will to take a low salary and see if he can get a % of the take. His Scientology 'friends' will talk some sense into him when they don't get the donations he once gave.

He turned down the role, not the other way around. This isn't the only movie script he has been looking at. The fact that he has done a few spy thrillers already, is a reason he wants to go into new territory. He turned down the role for Watchmen as well. It isn't like he doesn't got other stuff on the plate. He gots too much, so he also needs to chose something that won't interrupt his schedule for other projects. I also heard this movie was doing some re-writes at the moment.
