The Los Angeles Times just ran this very interesting article about LezLo and saMAN Ronson and why the mainstream media has taken the unusual step of "outing" them and their same-sex relationship.
Naturally, Lohan refused to comment for the article, though her publicist did say that Lindsay "wants to keep her private life private."
Uh huh!
What's especially interesting, though, is that editors of Us Weekly, People and Page Six all declined to comment for the article.
But, thankfully, Perez did speak!
Perez Hilton, whose website perezhilton.com regularly exposes perceived inconsistencies and hypocrisies in famous people and institutions, has also found himself wondering about this subject. "I've been fascinated by the reluctance of anyone in the mainstream media to talk on the record about the issue," Hilton said in an interview. "Most of these big media organizations — still to this day — have an unwritten policy against, quote, 'outing' people.
"What's especially interesting to me is that the publication that first jumped on the Lindsay-and-Samantha relationship bandwagon . . . is People magazine! And People magazine, of all the celebrity weeklies, is the tamest, the most celebrity-friendly and the most by-the-book. I'm fascinated by why they're doing it. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, it's just surprising to me."
So why won't People — or US or Page Six — say why Lohan and Ronson's relationship is different than other same-sex celebrity relationships that they ignore? "Maybe because they have no good explanation for it," Hilton said.
Ronson also refused to comment for the article.

It's funny how no rules apply for Lohan type gossip, we have lost so much respect for her… It's like nothing shocks us, I mind that these magazines are being irresponsible. But when it comes to Lindsey… its almost like its okay.

I wouldn't call what is happening with them "outing." They go around everywhere together, snuggle and hold hands in public. I bet Lindsay is loving the attention that this is getting. Even if the two are truly in a sincere lesbian relationship it just does not seem that it will last very long. It just seems like way too much of a publicity stunt. Or it could be that Lindsay's spirit is so fragile these days that she will cling on to anyone that pays attention to her. What happened to TR Knight was outing. What is going on with Lindsay and Sam is not. They go to very public places where they know there will be cameras around and engage in this behavior. The whole thing is just a little fishy… no pun intended!

The article was indeed good. But you know what the difference is between LoRo and the rest? First of all…it's 2008. There are enough homosexual couples who don't hide their sexuality anymore, so people aren't that shocked anymore. And secondly…it's Lindsay Lohan!! People are interested in what she's doing.
I really don't believe that she likes the attention she gets. And you can't compare her case to T.R Knight's case, since he wasn't followed by paps 24/7 while this is the case with LL. Of course they'll take interest when evidence would suggest that she is in a lesbian relationship-she is one of their most consistent targets. She sells magazines for them. Additionally, People has not explicitly "outed" the supposed Sam/Lindsay thing. They've been very choosy with their words.
I think Lindsay has handled herself well lately; she's definitely earned some respect for her more mature behavior.
