Warner Brothers has had an amazing Friday morning!
The box office numbers are in and….
The Dark Knight shattered the record previously set by Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith for most moolah made from midnight screenings.
The highly anticipated new Batman flick made a staggering $18.4 million 'overnight'.
DAYUM! $18 million big ones for JUST midnight shows in one night?!
Hollywood's now waiting to see if Dark Knight will beat Spider-Man 3's opening day record of $59.84 million and the all-time best opening weekend record of $151.11 million (also set by Spider-Man 3).
Looks like it probably will to us!

1. I went and saw the midnight showing last night….This is one of THE BEST movies I have EVER SEEN… (comic or otherwise)
2. The plot was excellent, the acting superb and the special effects awesome.
3. Heath Ledger was BRILLIANTLY freaky. His portrayal of the Joker is so disturbing yet gripping—it will live in infamy among the ranks of Hanibal Lector as best villains ever. Heath Ledger will MOST assuredly nab a posthumous best supporting actor oscar. Most people will think he'll get it just for dying young–but the man truly deserves it. It has been a long time since you have seen an actor play a character so well.
4. Hail to the movie writers for the few tie in thumbs up to the patriot act/war on terrorism.
funny Spiderman 3 has those records, that movie fooled people into seeing it and everyone came out disappointed, it was horrible. TDK deserves to beat it we cant have the worst Spiderman movie beating the BEST movie this year and the best "comic book/graphic novel" movie of all time as far as im concern

every. single. person tried to see it in bradenton. One theater over booked in presales, and had 7 screen overflows. like, 2000 people.

I saw this movie at 1201 in IMAX and it was amazing! Heath as the Joker was pure genius. I will be seeing it again this weekend. hopefully it breaks all kinds of records, and hopefully a certain someone gets an academy award. All the characters were great, great script, plot, visuals, amazing

Saw the 12 a.m showing last evening. The movie definitely lived up to its hype. Action from the first moment, unexpected plot turn regarding a main character that I wasn't expecting, etc., etc. Best movie I have seen in years and Bale is eye-candy too!
I saw it on Imax and it was AMAZING.
It's sad to think that THIS is what's capturing the imagination of the nation.

Re: Tony – …. are you kiddin? in a way this is wat is happening. may not be as drastic as the movie.. but this is what is happenin.. and as our imagination… doesnt everyone want a hero figure in their life to help with crimes like this? everyone wants a knight n shinin armour to protect them from the hard REALITY!… we get it from movies such as batman..
so technically this is a good thing to focuse our imagination on something like this. it gives us hope that maybe one day we will have a vigilanty to stand up again criminals so be it.
A friend who went to a screening of it said darker than dark. And not just b-cause of Ledger's death either.

This is JUST a summer blockbuster.
THEY say this movie is a haunting last film for Health Ledger but it is ONLY a noisy, mindless summer film.
There is nothing wrong with noisy,mindless summer films but there is something seriously wrong with all of you who say this movie is more than that.
And you have no business bringing your under the age of 10 children to see this movie.

As well it should! It was a badass movie, but seeing Heath Ledger on screen brings back the heartache. He did a phenomonal job and it hurts to think that we can never see that calibur of acting from him again =(
Someone wrote Christian Bale was overshadowed in this movie because of HL's death.
IMO, every actor including veterans Micheal Caine, Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman was overshadowed by the special effects and the explosions that comprise The Dark Knight's storyline.
This movie is not about character development and capital A ACTING.
It's about explosions and car chase sequences.
And if HL were still around, I'm sure more people would have wondered about the choices he made in playing the Joker.
Because of his untimely death and as my Aunt puts it: the need people have to be a part of something, Ledger's performance is being declared "the greatest of all time in the best movie made of all time"?????
No.
This is a fucking summer blockbuster intended to dazzle the little folks like you and me with noise and explosions so you'll be stupid enough to save up your quarters and dimes for the next installment.
and again, just because this film is based on comic book characters, that does not mean you should take you 6 and 7 year old kids to see it.
WHile many of the super violent scenes are not shown on screen, the suggestion of violence is always present. There's a scene where a pencil "disappears", your kids do not need to see this movie to get ideas to practice on their brothers and sisters.
One dumb couple in the theater bought their 6 month old infant to the movie…. dont you know loud noises disturb children?
Went to the midnight showing…worth the wait in line. The best comic/super hero movie to date. Surpassed all others. The plot.characters.and execution by all the actors was superb. I don't have a doubt that it will break records. Going to see it again tonight. A must see, very kick ass. Both Christian and Heath were excellent!!!!!!!

Good point. Bale's sinister take on the Batman character played a big part in reviving what was essentially a dead franchise. The Dark Knight is set to shatter box office records and Bale has already signed up for the sequel. Yet he seems to be able to stay under the radar.
I've seen almost everything he's been in and, imho, C. B. is one of the most underrated and versatile actors around. He's got a masculine intensity that's incredibly sexy, not to mention the fact that he's absolutely freakin' gorgeous! I usually don't go in for big Hollywood blockbusters, but I'll see this one just to get my fix of Christian Bale.

Very entertaining flick. Fantastic action sequences. Great performances from most of the lead actors. Wish they didn't cast Maggie G because she brought very little to her character and was not much better than Katie (who was, as we all know, abysmal). Just a tad too long. All said, a definite thumbs up!

I went to see it this morning and there was a line that wrapped around the WHOLE FUCKING CINEMA!!!!!! I'm going to guesstimate that there where 5 thousand people there. When my friends and I got to the front of the line, the line was still formed around building. So when we were in the front it turned out that there were only 8 screens which were filled up.
I was there at midnight watching it and there was SO many people there!!!

But no need to call the rest of the people who did "dumbasses" and "stupid". I haven't seen the movie and certainly don't expect the same kind of acting performances as seen in say 'No Country for Old Men', but I will go for the simple reason most people do; to be entertained and take a break from all the harsh reality that is our world these days.

I saw it today. There is no doubt in my mind it will shatter all available records in history. One of the most amazing films I've ever seen. I just wanted more and more and more. I would have sat through 18 hours of it if it would have kept going. The only thing is that they left it open for another one. This one should have killed off the Joker because I truly can not imagine another better than this. RIP Heath. You fucking rocked it!!!

I saw it at midnight, and the dark knight defenitely exceeds expectations. And no, I'm not just saying that, I'm being quite serious. Heath really outdid himself with his portrayal of the joker, and this is one for the books. Defenitely one of the most talented actors of his time. But not just that, Christian Bale also did an extraordinary job this time around.
The movie was extremely entertaining. People are seeing it left and right. It's crazy.Lines, people dressing up for the occasion. I bet its going to break all of those records, with no problem.
