Bigger Than Spider-Man

The Dark Knight continues to shatter record on its way to what is likely to be the biggest 3 day opening in U.S. box office history.
The movie already set a new benchmark for biggest take from midnight showings - it made $18.4 million, surpassing the $16.9 million record previously set by Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith.
Now, the new Batman film has surpassed Spider-Man 3's $59.8 million to have the biggest grossing day in North American box office history EVER.
The Dark Knight took in $66.4 million yesterday.
We should know by tomorrow morning whether it sets the 3-day record, but it's looking like a big YES.

Just got back from seeing the film, it was amazing! I'm going back to see it as many times as I can. If it doesn't set the record, i'll be shocked.
I saw it. Yesterday. The opening day. I'm sure I need to see it at least 10 more times to understand the full scope of it. Fuck, I couldn't take it all in. I was exhausted when I left. My eyes burned from not blinking. I'm still thinking about it. I will only say that I was so dissapointed that they left it open for another in the way they did. Another Batman fine, but not with another Joker. They should have laid the Joker to rest. Well I guess he was laid to rest but not rightly. I am a sorry sap about things but I can not get over this one. They should have killed him because he IS gone and he WAS the Joker.

but the fact that this film is "breaking records" is due to Heath's sad death

simply proves that real death sells movie tickets

couldnt it also be that tickets are at least 4 dollars more now then what they were when the other movie came out…they should base it on actual number of tickets sold. im not putting down the movie just makin a point. I loved thismovie! Christian Bale was terrific, Heath Ledger was Brillant, Aaron Eckhart was amazing and Maggie Gyllenhaal is beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i saw the dark knight on imax and it was incredible!! this movie definitely deserves to break all records. everyone's performance was great, but heath ledger's was remarkable. his voice, his demeanor..you forget who the actor is under all of the make-up. everyone must see this movie.
I seriously doubt that this movie would be breaking records if Heath Ledger was still alive. It was totally and completely overhyped. No one wants to give a dead guy a bad review because everyone would be so upset and say he was disrespected blah blah blah……

this movie is amazing.
i just watched it in Aus last night.
i had never watched a batman film before and it blew me away.
heath's performance was certainly the focus point of the film.
he was so incredibly brilliant.
far better than the performance of the batman character.
i hope he wins the oscar.

Just got back from watching Dark Knight and I must say it sucked. Don't believe the hype. The movie is way over the top with special effects, noise and bullcorn and "The Batman" is a joke. Dude puts on a costume and his voice changes to a low breathy whisper. WHY? Also, Heath Ledger was okay. The only reason I went to see it is to see his performance and it was only alright. What a disappointment. Don't waste your time.
Honestly, the ONLY reason so many people are going to see it is to watch some dead guy's last performance. If Heath Ledger was still alive it would be getting just okay reviews. It does not deserve the raving reviews. It was okay, but certainly not great.

IMHO Heath Ledger showed he was going to become the most brilliant actor of his generation in "Monster's Ball". I did not know he was in it when I went to see it…and he blew everybody completely off the screen. I was shocked he was not nominated for tons of awards for that performance. I thought Heath was far superior to all the other performers, but look who got an Oscar. Go figure.
I've not seen "Batman" yet, but I'm sure he's great. He kept growing and learning, and got better and better after "Monster's Ball."
