I must digress, Perez- I absolutely loved the film and I will be seeing it next Sunday again. The story of Batman isn't about inner turmoil- Bruce Wayne created Batman in order to help the ailing city his parents died trying to save. It explores the goods and bads of Batman, what he means to the city, and what becomes out of it. While I agree partly about Maggie, I disagree about the Joker. The point in the film they made about him was that it didn't matter what his backstory was, he was simply a deranged man who enjoyed watching suffering. He always lied about his scars, so his background must not be important to him, either. This movie was a movie for comicbook fans, and it was fantastic. If you want depth, watch some boring foreign flick. The Dark Knight tells a story, and what a fine one it is.

uh what movie were you watching buddy?! lacking wow factor?! what! the whole movie is wow factor! and its not supposed to be fun. its supposed to be mind blowing. and it certainly was mind blowing. its called the dark knight. so i think its safe to say its gonna be a dark movie. if they didnt want to make a "real" batman movie they would have had the same director make the same movie as they did in the '90s. if they made it any more graphic then it would have just been unnecessary. and no development of character? thats all bruce wayne/batman did! he developed! and i think the fact that they didnt show the inner turmoil of the joker was what made it so dark. you didnt know how he became that psychotic. but i will agree that maggie definately wasnt the best actor in the movie. but about 3/4 of the movie was action.

yeah well I usually hate action movies like this but I absoloutly LOVE this movie, I'm so anxious to go see it again.
Heath Ledger as the Joker was absoloutly genious. I don't know how else to put his work with the Joker into words. After I saw him portray that character, it inspired me so much to be an actress, and it also made me like… fall in love with him.
      R.I.P Heath Ledger
If only I could have been a fan before you left us
Hopefully one day I'll meet you when I die away also.

I don't agree with some stuff you said, but everyone's entitled to their own opinion…..I don't think there's supposed to be that much character development. I mean, the movie IS still based off a comicbook, no matter how dark it is. And in comicbooks, characters are usually one-dimensional and almost never change. They stay the way they are so that there's a definite good and a definite evil. Also, I LOVE Maggie. I've been a long time fan of her. People magazine said she was an "upgrade" over Katie Holmes, and I agree. I think Katie was just pouty lips and nothing else really…..

Also, Heath Ledger was PHENOMENAL. The trailers were just little tidbits of his awesome-ness. When I saw the trailer for the first time last year (BEFORE his death), I knew this character was going to be epic. He changed his voice, walk, etc. drastically to create something completely different than what he was in real life. That is good character acting, which a lot of celebrities don't seem to do that much today, except maybe Johnny Depp. He was purely diabolical, and obviously he got way deep into the Joker's head, which is why he probably couldn't sleep and needed pills. That is sad, and I am very frustrated that he's gone…..but what can you do?

P.S.- You do look skinnier, could it be cause you're laying down? lol But I like!

i think you are completley wrong about the movie, it did have that wow factor, Heath Ledgers Performance is what made the movie, without him the movie would not of been that great, but because of him I am just madly in love with the movie

I couldn't even watch your critique because it started to piss me off, your so god damn annoying

I agree with you on everything. I'm so glad i seen it in imax or i might of thought it sucked from it being too dark. I think heath ledger did an excellent job as the joker and that someone else could have done so much of a better job at Rachel Dawes than gyllenhaal did. but over all a good movie
