A Worthwhile Cause

Operation Homefront provides emergency assistance and morale to our troops, to the families they leave behind and to wounded warriors when they return home. A nonprofit 501(c)(3), Operation Homefront leads more than 4,500 volunteers in 30 chapters nationwide and has provided critical assistance to more than 45,000 military families in need. Operation Homefront also operates CinCHouse, the online community of nearly 400,000 military wives and women in uniform. Through this community, we reach the newest and youngest military families, instantly alerting them about our programs and other information to help them succeed in military life.
How We Help
Operation Homefront provides aid to families struggling not only with emergencies, but also with the problems of everyday life. Existing programs include:
- Emergency Aid — Provides food, baby care items, vehicle donation and repair.
- Computer Program — Allows children and spouses to stay in touch with their loved ones.
- Financial Assistance Program — Addresses crises such as illness, homelessness and death.
- Furniture Program — Donates household and baby furniture; working-order appliances.
- Moving — Provides physical labor for families when a service member is deployed.
- Social Outreach — Offers Adopt-a-family opportunities, Thanksgiving/holiday baskets, back-to-school supplies.
- Community — Rebuilds the challenged social network of the military community by bringing it online to CinCHouse where it is convenient to everyone, no matter the time or location.

suck on this first
waiting for all the liberal to chime in and say what a great cause this is. After all they support our troops 100%. Maybe they are too busy writing donation checks. the silence is deafening
Yay operation homefront rocks! Thanks for posting this Perez!
why don't you make a link to a page with all the dozens of "donate to this cause" posts so that people can pick and choose which one it is they want to donate to? It would be much more effective
I volunteer for this org and they do wonderful things for the troops and their families. Thanks for posting such a great organization!!!!!
I FEEL BAD FOR THESE PPL OVERSEAS
Why isn't the Government funding this 100% ??
Perez, this is getting tedious. Don't you understand how transparent you are publishing these charity posts. Who the FUCK do you think you are asking US to donate? …When you're the one raking in cash made from the advertising being shoved in our faces everytime we visit this joke of a site. These charities are all 'worthwhile' - it's just a pity slugs like you choose to exploit them for your own self-promotion. I hope your mother is proud!
i am a navy wife and my husband is getting deployed in a month thank you for showing support by this post me and all of the military families need as much support as possible
Thank you Perez!! Thank you so much for posting this! My husband is in the Navy & I am a Operation Homefront volunteer in San Diego - we applaude your involvement! The men & women in the Military (& the spouses at home) really need your help!
Youre the best!!
Give Teddy a kiss from the Navy!!!!
A good lesson for America is "don't go to war unless it's necessary" and don't go to war without asking the country to "sacrifice". See if all the war profitiers (spelling?) can donate some of the billions they have made off of this occupation…I mean war.
Oh my God - this is so sad! Why do we have to ask for PRIVATE donations to help our soldiers??? Where is our SUPPOSEDLY PATRIOTIC REPUBLICAN ADMINISTRATION???
And yes, it is their job, unless we're all out for ourselves and want to continue this horrible attitude of "fuck our fellow man" - apparently including our soldiers!
The current Administration is NOT patriotic - they only pretend to be! WAKE UP, FOLKS! Exactly why are the Republicans supposedly "patriotic"? Look at what happens on their watch! And Walter Reed Hospital to boot? This makes me so mad…
SUPPORTING THE SOLDERS MEANS SUPPORTING THE WAR! DONT DONATE!
You mean our government isn't funding this and we have to ask for private donations from citizens????
People - what is happening to our country? Do we not care at all about anyone but ourselves?? Why isn't Bush funding this if he cares about our military???
If none of us care anymore about each other, just quit dialing 911 when you're hurt - fuck you, help your damn self out of that car when it crashes!
I'm so sad that this is our attitude right now. These Republicans have ruined our good name and our economy with their evil, selfish greed. So sad!!
This army wife loves that you posted this! People don't understand that hardships that face families of the wounded, this organization is a great one to help out with all of that.
Thanks and remember - RANGERS LEAD THE WAY!
My husband is an infantry marine over sea right now on Iraq and people dont understand how hard it can be I support our troops ans the war thanks fro posting this let's all get involved. This might be one of the best things you ever posted Perez
For those of you who think that the government should fund this program, well, they have many, many programs out there to help families that in need of assistance during a deployment. I am sure all of you democrats out there haven't taken the time to research this, though. This is just ONE program that helps, that is not associated directly with the US military, but started (I'm sure) just to help out. After all, families that are split apart don't exactly have it easy; that's part of the sacrifice. If you don't agree with the posting, then don't donate. Just because you don't support the war doesn't mean that you can't support the soldiers, sailors, Marines, and airmen that are protecting our country whether you believe it or not. Kudos to you, Perez Hilton.
Perez,
Thanks so much for posting this! I am a member of CinChouse and have a great man serving in Iraq as we speak.
This organization is amazing, and its great to see someone else spreading the word.
Re: PEREZ –
Your a fucking retard. Supporting the men and women fighting for your cunt ass is not the same as supporting the war. Those people work much harder and take risks that you never will……just so butt fucks like you can live in a free nation. Ok, dont support these people…just let all the fucking towel heads come to the U.S. and lets see if you change your thoughts when they are killing and fucking your family! Your just a fucktard!
Perez, thank so much for posting this and givign this worthwhile charity some publicity! My brother just completed his eagle scout project and with the help of the community was able to send care packages to the troops with the help of Operation Homefront, in addition to sending them $2000 in donations. This is a worthy cause that everyone should donate to! All the people who say that supporting the troops means supporting the war are complete idiots. Most soldiers don't want to be there, leaving their families behind but they are doing their job. All of us sitting at home reaping the benefits of their hard work and sacrifice should do something to help them for once and show our appreciation!
I supported the troops by taking in a war resister. Fuck your government and fuck the psychopaths who want to go to war. I'd help any man or women willing to escape from perpetual servitude enforced by the Chimps illegal "volunteer" war.
Look up Stop-Loss on Google. These mena and women are in for life. Getting killed because of greedy half-wit Republicans like Mr. USA above.
Your country is a joke. Especially when these men and women serving are treated like shit by the very people who pretend to give a shit.
Oh, that's right! You have a "Support The Troops" sticker on your SUV. How patriotic.
Thanks Perez for posting this! My husband used to be active duty Marine. During one of his tours to Iraq the brakes on our car needed to be fixed. Operation Homefront helped by connecting me with a local repair shop who donated the labor for free! We paid for the parts, and the labor was free. It was a huge blessing.
Finally a worth while cause, put me down for one squirt of piss.
Until a couple of months ago, I hadn't even heard of this organization. I work for the Red Cross in Texas and in the past couple of months three employees have been hired on in this organziation. It appears to be a worthwhile organization.

Thanks for posting. And for those who say, "War is not the answer", just think what the world would be like if FDR and Churchill hadn't decided they needed to fight Hitler and Tojo.
Re: Hanna – so naive
Aw PH…this gets me. Im an Army wife myself and im touched that people care so deeply.
Angelina & Brad just gave them $500,000 dollars recently through The Jolie-Pitt Foundation
Thanks for posting this, I live overseas and trust me, people can and have benefited from this. Thanks to everyone that supports our troops.
COOL!!!!!!!!!
Finally! as a Sailors wife, it's so HARD! my hotstuff hubby is currently out to sea, somewhere in the Gulf….thank the smart people that created this website.. n Perez for posting this.. SMOOCHES!!
Re: PEREZ – how stupid are you? correct your typo! dumbass!! the goverment is funding the war.
If you're going to choose a military charity to "support", OH is not the one you should be giving your money too. If you want to help our military, donate to Fisher House. They have a much better track record of how much money actually makes it to the recipients. As well, they are much more transparent in regards to allowing people to see their tax documents. OH is crap. If you ask questions about their finances and how the money is used, they give you the run around. If I ask a charity to see where the money is going, I should be able to get a straight answer instead of someone hemming and hawing. If I donate to a charity, I want to know my donation is going to a military recipient and not to an employee's child, I want to know why they have more paid people on their staff than Fisher House, I want to know they they shouted to the hills they would help military members affected by the San Diego wildfires several years ago, but when military families called for help, they were told to go to the Red Cross…There is so much shadiness surrounding OH it's disgusting. It has the potential to be a wonderful charity, but it's being mired by shady business/accounting practices. Military families are going through some shit times right now, and there are families who do need help. OH, however, is an awful choice if you do want to help out. They need to clean up their act before I would ever donate money or time to them.
I am an Air Force veteran and an Air Force wife of an Afghanistan injured veteran, and I say DO NOT DONATE TO THIS ORGANIZATION!!!!! Meredith Leyva is an embezzeler, and are all her staff (friends, co-conspirators). Their overhead is a whopping 35%!!!!!!! The Fisher House which provides free lodging for any amount of time to the family members of injured troops has an overhead of only 2%!!! Don't give Operation Homefront your money because it won't get to the troops anyway!!!
Re: Goya –
You're stupid. They gave to the YMCA's Operation Hero program. Thank God they didn't give to Operation Homefront.
This "community" is a load of crap. They have 900 users, not the 400,000 they claim. They are liars and cheaters. Do not donate. Check out boardreader.com to find out EXACTLY how "big" they really are not how big the only claim to be….
THERES A LOT OF SHADY CRAP GOING ON OVER AT OH. DO YOUR RESEARCH FIRST PEOPLE. And don't forget to read the financials!!!!
The leadership at OH are con artists. The organization is currently being investigated for fraud and misuse of donated funds. Do NOT donate to them!!! Fisher House is an amazing, well-run organization which supports military families. Donations to them will be used for the intended purpose.
(To the poster whose Eagle Scout son just raised $2,000 cash for the organization….how do you feel knowing that OH will use less than $1,300 of that to support the military? The other $700 is probably being spent on lobster dinners and vacation for the OH board.)
Thank you: Sonja, J, MsP and Jenni!!!
I stand behind those 100% who say DO NOT DONATE to this supposed "Charity"!!! Merdith Leyva and her cronies have done nothing but embezzle money from hard working military families- along with lying to their sponsors the entire way. The president of he San Diego Chapter of OH, was prosecuted for identity theft, burglary and grand theft! Not to mention, what has already been mentioned before- but well worth mentioning again- they have an overhead of 35%!!!
Take this down Perez! Do not encourage people to donate to a "charity" that gives about .30 cents on the dollar (please wait while I get exact figures). They are ripping everyone who donates off!
Fuck, Perez! Do your god damn homework before you start spewing at the mouth for low-life charities!
To all who have posted regarding this organization. If you really want to know a reliabe chairty to donate to, go to charitynavigator.com or guidestar.com. Operation Homefront actually has the highest rating given by Charity Navigator. IF they are embezzling money as you say, don't you think the independent auditing firm OR charitynavigator would have caught this?
check out their tax returns to compare the CASH donated to SALARY expenses. They spent 1/6 of their CASH donated on paying six figure salaries to 13 paid staff members. Pound for pound they pay eight times what organizations ten times their size pay out for staff. They are getting rich off the backs of military families and in the name of the war wounded. The best bet would be to ask to see tax returns from the "staff" at their alleged "CinCHouse" site. Youll find their "staff" are making more than "civilian" counterparts. They are a sham of an organization and there are far better ways to spend your money to support military.
re: Brook – actually, no. Charity Navigator is a simple numbers game and they do no leg work to determine a charities validity. All they need to do is make a certain amount to qualifay. Call Charity Navigator and ask them what it take to get a four star rating. it isn't all that much. And, for the record, it is the CFC that reports an overhead of 35%. The self claimed founder is nothing but an individual who threatened to sue the real founder, Roger Hedgecock, if he didn't walk away. They are not interested in helping families. They are interested in getting rich.
Thanks again Perez! You have a huge military fan base and we appreciate you! I'm an Army Wife and a member of CinCHouse and they do AWESOME work!
Oh… Fuck Cinchouse!
I agree, do NOT donate to OH. They skew their numbers, use money and items to pay for their crappy website and don't do nearly enough for the troops and families with the millions of dollars donated. They have a reported overhead of over 35%. That's reported and those numbers are skewed. Meredith Leyva takes trips and covers personal expenses and calls it 'program expenses' (that's the money that is SUPPOSED to go to the troops and families), as do many of the other employees.
This organization is shady at best and if you choose to donate to a charity that supports the troops and families, there are many better ones to choose from.
And yes, the military DOES provide most of these services to the troops. The people that OH supports are more often ones that are in financial trouble because of their bad choices, expensive cars, Coach purses and multiple children. On paper they can afford to handle an 'emergency expense' such as new brakes for a car, but they spend their money so badly they are in thousands of dollars of debt for puppies and designer purses. Don't believe me, check out the shit on their message boards.
This charity is a great charity….if you happen to be one of the select few that gets paid 6 figures to fudge the books, tax returns, and program expenses to pay for personal trips, spa days, and anything else you want from your big pink piggy bank that is cinchouse.com What happened to the money that was donated to the CA wildfires, but not given to the families? The truck that was donated and given to an employee's child? Where did the laptop and gift cards come from that was passed out to members of cinchouse for joining chat or looking through third rate articles that are ripped off of whatever women's magazine is hot that month. Want to learn how to rip off housing by faking a pregnancy, buy coach purses and still qualify for wic, or how to get the bill collectors to stop calling after you haven't made a payment on your 1200 dog? Go right to cinchouse! But if you dare ask about their accounting practices, you are hit with the big bad ban stick. Oh and don't forget, if are a member of cinchouse and you don't donate, you aren't welcome! Isn't that right meredith?
Re: Brook – Google Charity Navigator. Even they admit they have problems with their rating procedures. I will not listen to any ratings guide that accepts money from what it is supposed to rate. How biased is that? The ratings guide put out by the government states its overhead is 34.5%. The Fisher House? Less that 2%. Where do you really want your money to go?
If I were you, I would really reserach both OH and Cinchouse before you donate any money to these so called organizations. If you are not one of their croonies, you will never see that money. If you question their "financials", you will get banned from their website and told "If you do not want to donate, do not come to this site any longer". This came from the "founder" Meredith. She did not even come up with the idea OH. PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH!
I completely agree with the comments towards the bottom of this page: PLEASE investigate before you donate to this charity. They are currently under investigation and have proven several times that they are fradulent.
These and many other organizations have helped my son's family immensely. he was blown up in iraq memorial day 07, his 21st birthday and lost his left arm, paralyzed and burned. I raised over 18,000 in a week from these organization to go towards my son's new van. They and their fellow organizations are truly angels. a severely wounded warrior's mom
My son was blown up in iraq memorial day 07, his 21st birthday. he lost his entire left arm, paralyzed from the chest down, burns and skingrafts, etc. these organizations saved us during our months of hospital stays. there are a lot of good ones out there. i raised over 18000 in a week towards my son's new sprinter from the help of these generous people. They have truly been our angels - stacie, a wounded warrior's mom
Re: J- –
I am so with you on this one. This organization has stolen money from people to pad thier own pockets. The money is used to pay their giant paychecks. I would not donate to this organization. Save it for the USO and MILITARY organizations if you want to donate. T
It is GREAT that you guys want to help families of people overseas.. but.. No one helped us when we were in the military. We have 3 kids and the only help we ever got was a Turkey at thanksgiving. The airmens attic was worthless and so was the aid and family services. We got paid SO LITTLE at E4, that we had to take credit cards out to pay for groceries and gas. Thanks a lot for taking care of your people. We suffered the entire time.
Re: Takin –
Takin-here's a thought, help yourself!! Get a fucking job, or stop having kids that you can't afford. I'm guessing that you assumed that WIC would take care of that for you, or are you one of the morons that assumes that you get more money for more kids??? Seriously, all of these charities, or "charities" should only be helping those who are truly in need, having had a serious injury or catastrophic event beyond their control, not because YOU can't manage your money and plan for a future. Give me a fucking break. People like you piss me off.
I've heard nothing but horrible things about OH and their financial practices, Meredeth comes across as a self righteous bitch, and the website is full of morons like Takin here, who continuously get themselves into shit then expect someone else to fix the problem with no effort from the person who created the mess, who then turn around and gets themselves back into crap when they've been bailed out. As far as charities go, I'd research before donating to ANY charity, and I'll give my money to someone who will show me where it is going.
I support the troops, not the war and not those looking for a handout either.
Please do not donate to this organization. read sonja and jenni's comments.
If you wish to donate to organizations that help military families donate to:
Fisher house foundation (not only houses, but plane flights for family members and other things)
yellow ribbon fund (cab fare/rental cars, etc for families of injured or sick military members)
and many others
each service also has a relief fund:
Army Emergency Fund
Navy and Marine Welfare fund (I believe)
and i know the airforce has one
you can also donate to any of the chaplain's funds on any military base and the money will be used for needy military members and families.
Do not donate to a sleezy organization that gives little of it's money to the families.
most of the money goes to supporting their website and cheezy parties for military families.
they have spent thousands of hard earned and donated dollars on their own hotel rooms and sponsor parties at big conventions (to brown nose the big wigs, us little people are not welcome) and they spend lots of money on poorly written articles on the website. some of those articles have promoted things like porn sites and anal sex as a normal marital form of sex.
Want to spend your money on this type of thing? It is your right. I hope you make a better judgement.
I'm all for supporting the troops, after all, they're not the ones who choose to get us into this mess. However, any donations made by my family and I will go to a reputable org. Not one tainted by massive fraud, or one where even low-level administration members pull down 6 figures.
