Blame it on Bjork, Spielberg and Sharon Stone

Filed under: Music Minute > Politik > Sharon Stone

stone.jpg

Note to self: never plan a trip to Hong Kong.

China says it will ban foreign artists and entertainers who have ever engaged in activities deemed to "threaten national sovereignty."

Chinese event organizers will be expected to scrutinize acts and material and ban any performance that might threaten national unity, stir ethnic hatred or violate Beijing's strict policy on state-approved religions and "cultural norms."

So, basically, China will ban your ass if you criticize them!

We blame Bjork who yelled, "Tibet, Tibet, Tibet" after performing her song Declare Independence live in Shanghai.

Then there was uber director Steven Spielberg, who dropped his name from an Olympic committee cause he is opposed to China's practice of doing business with the genocidal Sudanese government.

We wonder which artists will be China P.C. for the chance to make Chinese $$$$.

We guess definitely any act managed by Disney!

However, we don't blame China for pissing on Sharon Stone because of her crazy karma comment!

With all the fucked up things going on in China - from the way they treat thier animails to the child kidnappings to the one child law - they seem to have more stuff to worry about than what some American celebrity has to say. I for one agree with Sharon Stone - Karma is a bitch!

  20. qirwq says – reply to this

    20

why?? sharon stone has the right to her own opinion! don't we live in the USA where we have free speech? She just said what she felt. and honestly, i even think what she said was correct, and okay for her to say since it was based on her true emotions. don't be like a tyrannical government.. don't you just want peace and no tyranny?? no oppression and violence and abuse? sharon stone was right! why do you have to be an ass about her comment?

Fuck Hong Kong it needs to go sink anyway!! Free Tibet from bad Chinese food!!

You're a stupid idiot who should just stick to second-hand gossip.

So much ignorance…Hong Kong was previously a British colony (now reclaimed by China) and is entirely welcoming to foreigners. It's a beautiful city with wonderful shopping and sights…you are missing out!

And I'm pretty sure this new policy is aimed at keeping Bjork out. Who invited her anyways? 0_0

Right now, China is the factory floor for the world's retail business. China offers the cheapest labour costs which equals cheap goods to America, but that is because their workers are slaves who are forced to work for menial wages.

Perez, when you decided to start a clothing line, did you ask where this clothing line would be made? Who are the people dying so that you earn a profit and we increase our consumer spending (in a time when the economy is crashing and we continue to put people out of jobs by outsourcing to China)?

I would suggest that you read The Coming China Wars by Peter Navarro and take a look at your life, and consider your impact on the world.

Perez you are so uneducated you bitch about Fidel Castros "reign of terror" on Cuba which mostly expelled privileged Spanish families (like your own) who did not want to live in a nation based equality for everyone. I like the fact that certain artists, directors, actors, don't want to be associated with China and speak up about what is going on. It's important, I think, for all of us to be informed about what is really happening there. They play a huge part of why Darfur is in the midst of Genocide and the whole situation in Tibet is sad and disturbing. So kudos to Bjork and Spielberg but Sharon is still a nut.

    Are you stupid? really.

Based on the transfer of Hong Kong from the British to the Chinese government, Hong Kong will have a high degree of autonomy until year 2047. Hong Kong has it's own government and political system right now, and it is the only place in China where people can still protest the government in the streets freely.

Ever heard of the "One Country, Two Systems Policy?" Obviously you have never been to Hong Kong.

    Stupid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am fr China, we welcome all the talented artists from all over the world to come and perform here, and we definitely need more elements to add in. But the nation comes into being from a long way of struggling with wars and of course the government try their upmost efforts to defend the unity of the nationa, even though it is oven done sometimes, especially near the olympic games moment.

Sharon stone should shut her fuck up if she doesn't have any good thing to say in public, everyone here "hate" her.

americans should deal with all the shit happening in there country. for example the hundreds of murders and kidnappers each day.

    seriously get your facts right.

    69

Sharon said a stupid thing. I understand what she meant to say, but it wasn’t respectful to the victims of the earthquake (government leaders are the ones making the choices not the everyday citizens). On a good note, she recognized her mistake by apologizing, and did bring massive attention to the issue of Tibet through this negative controversy, so I’m all for giving her a break. Go Sharon Go!

  94. Think says – reply to this

    94

Those who think Sharon Stone was right: to say so is like people saying that 911 was due to karma too - not so "right" and "honest" when it's about YOU is it, now? but then again, you did say that "we live in the united states where we have free speech", right? so you should, too, be okay with people who think 911 was due to karma. "karma's a bitch", right?

The US is just as corrupt - just much more shady about it, which isn't any better. We live in a self-absorbed, ignorant, self-obsessed, self-righteous country where most people have never even left the country. The US and China are not all that different in their ways of demanding for respect. Get over yourselves.

And I can guarantee you that Bjork is still welcome to Hong Kong. Perez, could you please try to make some better informed comments. You just anger people with your blatant stupidity.
