He Moves Fast

The treatment you get when you're a former Beatles star.

Apparently Paul McCartney arrived late on Friday night, just before the start of the Billy Joel concert.

So what's a guy to do?

Well, you get the NYPD to escort you from JFK Airport to Shea Stadium in less than 15 minutes!

The distance is approximately 11 miles away.

McCartney's plane landed shortly after 11:00pm.

He was then met on the tarmac by cops.

And then made it to the stadium by 11:20pm to surprise everyone.

Of course, all the while being escorted by police.

It's nice to see tax dollars being spent properly.

who are you to comment on new york's tax dollar spending?
regardless, that police escort delighted 70,000 screaming fans and an entire city.

so yeah, i think it was worth it.

First off the concert started at 8:45 not 11 and second, Paul arrived by helicopter and it circled the stadium 3 times disturbing the concert and Billy playing, so yes it sucked that he arrived that late

Okay so the chopper was not for Paul McCartney….it was cirlcing close to the stadium for the entire show to block the airspace from planes coming out of Laguadia which cause a hell of alot more noise than choppers. And I dont care how much it cost to get Paul to the stadium. I was there and it was well worth it. He was awesome and can still rock it out with the best of them. either way, love you Perez.

I was at this concert Friday and as a NYer, it is WELL worth the tax $. Paul McCartney was AMAZING!! As was Billy Joel of Course. Thanks NYPD!

That's pretty fucking ridiculous. I love Paul and the NYPD but this is grossly negligent. They could have caused an accident. Unless there is an emergency no one should ever abuse there rights.

Re: jeff – has he paid NYC and state taxes? He's from England.

yah, i get it about the tax dollars and everything but it's THE BEATLES, dude. Plus, it was to make it to a performance in time, which is also ultra worth it!Can you imagine how cosmically bummed you would be if you had tickets to that show and got told you didn't get to see Sir Paul after all, because of airline delays and traffic???

the innovation initself is worht it for him to be able to get escorted when he wants, it happened for him the first time they needed to get to shea stadium, why not this time?

Um love ya Perez, but don't be talkin smack about MY Paul! I've seen him 8 times in concert and that's how he rolls. Police escort every time. It's SO exciting to be a part of the entrance he makes. He pays for it I'm sure of it. Grand entrance for a Grand Man!

Re: ellen – PLEASE… Dont be dumb honey, the only reason we have great music today is because of that man… quit your hatin

I spent a lot of money to go to that concert, which included a lot of city tax, so I think they still made a profit after using the police for an escort.

Hey, if we can put dozens of police on duty to allow Arabs to demonstrate their hate towards us, gays to express their love for the same sex, and blacks to demonstrate the need for more "freedom", then I think this was a much better use of their time!
