I just knew I was going to leave a snarky comment after I saw this clip, but, WOW, I'm impressed with his vocal talent! This wasn't just passing, it was great! Sesame Street has always tried to show kids that different people are just like you, so I guess the "shoe fairy" is too! That was awesome.

Good for him! Sesame Street is the greatest show for our kids.
He also played the "Emcee" in CABARET. In a non-musical role, he was in PROOF with Anne Heche. Furthermore, he was with the national touring company of RENT. He's done a whole bunch of stuff at The Old Globe, too. He's an all-around talent. I hope he gets an Emmy this year for HIMYM (and I hope more people watch this clever and HIGHlarious sitcom).

I saw him in RENT at Ahmanson theatre in L.A. He was really good. It was kinda funny to see him cos the movie "Starship Troopers" was just released.

Actually I knew he could sing. He was on Broadway in Cabaret as Emcee. Contrary to what betty commented on earlier, it IS a singing role. I remember him specifically singing "Money" and throwing out fake money in the very front where I was. Anyway, he was very good and I'm surprised he doesn't sing more often.

He's a total BABE! Of course, he can sing. I saw him back in the 90's when he was doing RENT in LA and he killed it back then too. He's a gift who's true potential and talent is still yet to be discovered I believe (I mean it is happening already but it has taken some time for the main stream to recognize it and I think there will be more to come). Best role so far for me: Himself in Harold & Kumar go to Whitecastle. HIGHLARIOUS!

maybe i've watched way too many vids on youtube that read way too far into other videos, and i don't know the lead up to what we see, but, 1) NPH is wearing wings, perhaps insinuating that he is a 'fairy'; 2) the man is given hopping slippers. hopping is hard, perhaps insinuating that man is the harder worker, and 3) the woman is given mopping slippers, perhaps insinuating that a woman's place is washin' dem dirty floors. what do you figure?

If you liked hearing that and you like Broadway, you should pick up a copy of Steven Sondheim's "Frogs" and "Evening Primrose" (both on 1 cd).
NPH sings the lead in Evening Primrose, which is a musical one-act about a writer who decides he's tired of trying to write crap just to get paid, and moves into a department store - living free by night and sleeping and hiding during the day while the store is open. He finds that there is a whole community of odd characters who live in the department store, too, and falls in love with a girl who got lost in the store when she was very young. She's enthralled by stories of "outside" and he vows to take her there and give her a new life. The residents of the store have a vow that no one who comes to live with them can leave. They go to really creepy lengths to keep the couple inside.
