The View co-host Sherri Shepherd recently made some startling revelations to Precious Times, a magazine for today's black Christian woman.
On life before Christianity:
"Before I converted to Christianity, I was a Jehovah's Witness. In 1993, my mother was dying from diabetic complications. My sister was heavy into drugs, and we would have to go and get her from crack houses. I was in a very physically abusive relationship. I was sleeping with a lot of guys and had more abortions than I would like to count. I had very low self-esteem and just wanted to die. I felt if someone killed me, it wouldn't even make a difference. But God showed me that it would make a difference."
She also tells the mag that that it is hard being 'taken to task about her faith' on The View:
"Oh sometimes I say, 'Lord, Juanita Bynum or Joyce Myers (evangelists) would be so good at this table. They could lay hands on Barbara Walters and get her saved. I ask the Lord, 'Why am I here?' I have to trust God when He says, 'Because I said so.'"

Only if we follow Jesus example and listen to his Father, our heavenly father Jehovah, by reading His word daily and applying what we learn to our lives can we be forgiven for our past sins and reap the benefits He has in store for us in the future. That's sounds Christian to me.

As someone who was born and raised moderately Protestant, I absolutely loathe when born-again evangelical Christians think that it is THEIR religion and theirs only. I have to speak up in response to the wonderful things being said about JW's and the fact that people think they are christians. They DO NOT believe in the divinity of JEsus. Re: The T – I can't help but reply to this. As stated in Webster's dictionary: Divinity is defined as deity, godhood, having divine attributes, a divine being. JW's do, indeed, see Jesus as all of these things. He is not the ALMIGHTY God, but even the Bible calls him a MIGHTY God. Perhaps you have been away from the JW religion so long that you have forgotten some of these points. To be a Christian, you have to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord Savior and turn from your sins and turn your faith towards Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the ONLY way to salvation because God the Father sent his son Jesus (who is 100% divine, 100% man) to take the penalty for our sins. Instead of us dying, Jesus died.
Jesus said in John 14:6 "I am the way, the truth, the life. No one can get to the Father except through Me."
Ask Jesus for forgiveness of your sins and ask Him into your life. He just wants a relationship with us and wants what's best for us which is to sin as less as possible and to worship Him.

If God had placed the same authority in all the angels, then they would not be worshippers. They would be in the same ranking as God. So God gave them the power of choice and free will. Lucifer wanted to take over God's place and God then created hell for Lucifer and his followers.
So then God created Adam and Eve and Satan tempted them to sin.
God is a just God so the penalty for sin is death. To atone for their sins in the Old Testament, people had to sacrifice animals and offerings. But Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice. God's gracious and merciful plan for us to be saved. Hence, the term, "SAVED."
Now do you see why Jesus is the only way to heaven?
I can see why this always offends people, but once you understand what we Christians are trying to do, then you'll understand that we're just trying to save you and to put it bluntly, to save you from going to hell. We don't want to see you go to hell!! Yes, there are people who extreme, but that's because we're human. We're born with sin and will never be perfect. Accepting Christ will help us to live a more Christ-like life. A good life.
So don't live your life gambling that there isn't a hell. What if there is? Does it really hurt to try to live a better life? It'll only be better for the world.

Is it possible for a JW to make a mistake? Of course! However, if they CONTINUE in their wayward course, they will be disfellowshipped! Would you like to know the scriptural basis for the practice of disfellowshipping? Galatians 5:9 states, "A little leaven ferments the whole loaf." Essentially, this means that it only takes a small amount of leaven to totally change the composition of something. So, in this case, just a tad of leaven causes the entire loaf to rise. Today, tolerance of immoral behaviors can contaminate an entire congregation or church! This is WHY immoral behaviors are not tolerated. Third, disfellowshipping is ALWAYS the last resort. The erring person is helped to see the error of his way and change. If he or she does not change, the individual is disfellowshipped. This serves to mentally wake the erring person so that he or she can bring their lives into harmony with God's word, the Bible. Hopefully, you NOW know the scriptural reason for this practice.
