The Reason Behind His "Assault"

bale.jpg

Looks like Batman's mouth is what got him into trouble!

A report claims that Christian Bale was likely arrested for verbal assault.

In England one can be charged with verbal assault, Class 4 and Class 5.

Good to know English mommas!

If your kids mouth off, threaten to have them arrested!

Is that really arrest-worthy????

Unless you're screaming "I'm gonna fucking kill you!", we don't think it is.

What do U think?

Well… If that's the case, and I were living in London, I would have been in the pokey since the tender age of 5 or 6.

      That's such motherfucking bullshit!

Where do they get their laws from? A dusty old book on a shelf somewhere since 1812?

His mum… and sis… are TWATS!

Is there a law in England against lousy relatives? Throw that mother and sister in jail, he probably told his LOSER mother and sister - to go fuck themselves he's not giving them a dime!!

I find that highly unlikely!!!! 'class 4 and 5' are actually Public Order offences, and section 5, but if this happened in private premises, then he wouldn't have been arrested for this, as it wasn't in public. Also, if he had, he would have been given a PND (if he hasn't got much of a criminal record), which is an £80 fine, but instead he's been bailed, which makes me think that an actual assault took place. I think he was arrested for either, common assault for ABH.

I think that's an idiotic law. If that law were to be active in the U.S, the juvenille halls and prisons would be flooded with ill mannered people. I'm not saying it's right for him to mouth off but there are better ways of dealing with those situations. there is no need for jail in that case.

      107

Perez, it was OK with you that people in France go to prison for bad-mouthing Islam, a religion very intolerant of homosexuality, but now you reverse yourself and say expressing yourself should not land one in jail. So which is it, you big waffle?

      108

That is so bogus. So fucking stupid. Oh damn, it's a good thing I don't live in England or they'd arrest me.

Even if you yell, "I'm going to fucking kill you", that's no reason to arrest someone. Just remove them from the premises. And give them a warning that next time they "verbally assault" they'll be arrested.

Sounds like someone's family is J-E-A-L-O-U-S!! Bet they'd get along with Kim Ledger.

America is the same way. You can't say certain words like f_ _ _ _ t or n _ _ _ _ r for example and expect to keep your job. In America these words are holy, in other countries other words are holy. Just because Wales has different set of holy words does not mean America is less stupid.

In this case no. Wouldn't it be nice though to tell snot nosed teens they can go to jail if they mouth off. After all, they threaten parents with abuse if they don't get their way.

      112

i'm an advocate for victims of domestic abuse and sexual assualt. verbal abuse can be just as horrible as physical. i find that those who are making light of the situation without knowing what happened (as well as you perez) is offensive to those who are are survivors of an abusive relationship and those who are currently in an abusive situation. shame on you and just about everyone who left a comment.

An assault occurs when someone places someone else in apprehension of an immediate battery. When it gets physical, then it becomes a battery. There is a commin misconception in this country that assaults involve physical contact, but they don't. Someone can be charged with assault and battery, but if the person never comes into contact with the other person, they can only be charged with assault. But they key is the person has to believe a battery is iminent. E.g. Saying "I am going to fucking kill you" would be assult; "I hate your fucking guts" wouldn't be, unless it was said while waving a gun around, while charging the victom, etc. Hope this helps.

first of all they went to his hotel to stir this thing up, then they went to the police station, i am sure he asked them to leave or something like that and they wouldn't budge- they are desperate to ride on his coat tails of fame.
He is such a down to earth guy- and amazing actor, I am glad Perez is finally sticking up for one of the good guys:)

What a stupid reason to get arrested. Whatever he said to them, they probably deserved. He left his mother to go live with his dad when he was a teenager so obviously she wasn't looking after him. Like I said yesterday, she probably wants money.

First of all his mom and sis waited until after the big movie premier. So they are only doing this to get his money that he earned. Its really sad that family acts like that. Hatin Bastards!!!!!

      U.S LAW
      ,
At Common Law, an intentional act by one person that creates an apprehension in another of an imminent harmful or offensive contact.
      .
An assault is carried out by a threat of bodily harm coupled with an apparent, present ability to cause the harm. It is both a crime and a tort and, therefore, may result in either criminal or civil liability. Generally, the common law definition is the same in criminal and Tort Law. There is, however, an additional Criminal Law category of assault consisting of an attempted but unsuccessful Battery.
      .
Statutory definitions of assault in the various jurisdictions throughout the United States are not substantially different from the common-law definition.

Verbal abuse can be very damaging (umm, how do you think a kid feels if they are repeatedly called a stupid little shit or some other abusive term by a parent or loved one?)!! And often physical abusers start off being verbally abusive and then later it escalates. Kudos to Britain for recognizing this!

Perez, why don't you try reading up on things that matter before offering your opinion on them?

celebrities' parents' and family have nothing better to do than put their kids business out there and get their 15 minutes of fame. that is so lame. just do what mexican families do, smack them across the face and show them that no matter how famous you are you still respect your parents. if i were famous my mother wouldnt let me get a way with "verbally abusing" her, she's just slap me hard before i can finish my sentence. beleive me, my mom has a heavy hand lol
