The new Batman movie keeps on chugging along at record paces!

The Dark Knight took in an astounding $24 million at the box office in the U.S. on Monday.

On a Monday!!!!

The film has already made a whopping $182.9 million in less than a week of release.

Spider-Man 3 had $10.2 million on the Monday after it opened and that movie went on to make $336 domestically.

The Dark Knight looks poised to easily make $400 million.

And, with 64% of Dark Knight fans saying they plan to see it AGAIN, the movie could take in upwards of $500 million in America.

One thing a LOT of people like to forget about (especially those who predict the numbers), is inflation.

Yes, TDK is doing -very- well (and was a -very- good movie!), however, because it's making so much now, doesn't necessarily mean that it'd out-done all other films in history. The price average for movie theaters changes on a yearly basis, practically. That's hard to compare. What folks -need- to compare, is how many tickets were sold, vs. the literal dollar amount.

    44

My fiance and I saw the movie today (Tuesday) at the 3pm showing and there was quite a few people there.
I have to say, this movie totally deserves all of the hype it's getting. It was phenomenal.
I went in expecting crap, but came out totally understanding why it's gotten such rave reviews.
ALL of the actors did a fantastic job.
And it almost made me cry to think that we'll never see the joker played the same way again. That's how totally convincing Heath was in that role. You can really tell he put his heart and soul in to making that character as believable as possible.

ok, whats up with the lack of girls in these super hero movies? Batman had plenty of female villans running through. Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy and Catwoman to name a few.

I would like to see some grrrls up in here real soon.

    54

To "Miss McGillicutty" your obviosuly just a narrow-minded moron, anyone who can sit there after watching the movie and claim that it is only becuase of heath's passing that the movie is doing so well is basically just a fuckwit.

The movie is fabulous, i think it is easily one of the best part's heath has played to date, i have seen it twice now, both times the cinema was packed out & both times there was a standing ovation- which was thoroughly deserved!

The box office success is a big tribute to the late Heath Ledger who steals the show. It's hard not to get emotional watching Heath knowing that this was his last role.

After seeing Batman Begins, I was hoping The Dark Knight would be better (and assuming it would be) but I tried not to buy into too much hype before seeing (yet I can't lie about how excited I was) & it was truly amazing. Heath Ledger's performance will go down in history as the best villain on the big screen. This movie should be making these figures regardless of whether Heath is alive or not, although I would much rather it be he were alive =(. But I'll definitely be seeing it again and buying the DVD. =)

    67

I saw it midnight on Friday AND again on Monday. And Friday I'm checking it out in IMAX. I really really did enjoy the movie. It's even better when you watch it again! Especially with understanding the Joker– I didn't really get it so much the first time (as I commented on your video review, Perez), but the Joker's character development is THERE! I figured it out. :P

    69

I just saw it for the second time, and it was still as amazing as the first time. If someone asked me to go see it again tomorrow I would. Best movie I've seen in awhile. Heath was nothing less than incredible, and so unbelievably convincing. It makes me so sad to know that this great man will never be able to reach his full potential as an actor. It really makes you think twice about the accurancy of prescriptions and the extent of doctors' knowledge..

  70. alrmw says – reply to this

    70

I saw the movie at the midnight showing and they had to open a second theatre and they both sold out.I am in Canada so i dont think our numbers count in the records Perez has been posting. I wonder what it's at world wide.

Heath's death is very trageic and I do see how some people that are not Batman fans would go and see this movie in Heaths honour. But anyone that goes to see it wether it be fue to being a Batman fan, a DC fan, a Heath fan, a fan of any other actors in the movie or any other reason, not many can come out feeling robbed of their $10. It is amazing and Heath's performance steals the show hands down.

All the hype is more then deserved and this comming from someone that is not a huge Batman fan. Dint relaly like the movies till Batman Begins.

I will probably see it again and own it when it comes out.

its soo sad that Heath Ledger made himself physically sick to do this movie, and another dark role as well, to the point that he got pnemonia, had problems sleeping etc- just goes to show, how he embodied the role to the point that he subsequently overdosed.
