Hey serial daters!

If you think breaking things off by voicemail is a-OK, there's a new mobile service out in the market place that's just for you, according to a new report.

A service called Slydial lets you connect directly with another person's cell phone voicemail by bypassing the traditional ringing process.

You no longer have to wait til he's on the subway or she's on a plane to place the stressful break up call!

Or if you're too chicken to ask someone out on a date, don't speak to them and be guaranteed to get their vm.

Sounds perrrrfect!

Recipients of the Slydial call would get a voicemail notification, and sometimes a 'missed call' notification.

But, there are constraints to this service. It can only be used in the U.S. right now, and generally won't work with prepaid cell phones.

Also, "Sly" dialers must have the caller ID feature activated on their phones to prevent people from using it to harass people undetected.

The founder of Slydial, thinks it can be useful not only in the dating scene, but also in the hectic business world, "Everybody has gone through the scenario where they've called somebody and just hoped they got voicemail so they didn't have to have a conversation."

True, true!

We gotta say that breakup by Slydial is definitely more humane than breakup by text!

this service has been available in Australia for about 10 years….you just record the voicemail on your own service and dial the number you want the message sent to. I guess the US is so far behind by not adopting the sim card service in the early days.

No, we can do it in the U.S. too already. Just call up your voicemail service and choose to leave a message in someone else's voicemail box. I'll admit, um, I've done it before…

    26. Janel says – reply to this

      26

You can also bypass the ringing and head sraight to voicemail by calling the person from 2 phones at one exact same time. =)

I also think its immature to break up via phone anyways. (Unless its a long distance relationship)

    27. Saoir says – reply to this

      27

In Ireland if you just press #5 between the prefix and the number it brings you directly to that persons voicemail and it doesn't ring - its always been like that. I'm sure theres a way to do this for free everywhere, this sounds like a total rip off!

I know that on Verizon you can already do this by sending a voicemail from you our voicemail box. Just acess your mailbox and hit 2 to send a message. Type in the number it's going to, record your message (break up, rant, or drunken proclamation of love) and send. You can also send it high priority or even request a reciept so you know when the other person listens to it! This Slydial is old newsssss…

The things they try and make money on. You can already do this with almost every service. It's referred to as "sending a message". All one needs to do is go into voicemail and chose send a message instead of listening to messages. It would be better to try it for the first time if you don't have new voicemails since the server normally defaults to unheard messages. I know for verizon you just press "2" to send a message instead of "1" to listen to messages.

Also I'm going to be starting up a new web-based business called Know it All. You email any fact-based questions to an email address and someone will get back to you with the answer within a half hour…. any feedback?

I work on the same floor as the company that created Slydial. They definitely didn't pay anything to get Perez to post this. They are really excited about the coverage it's been getting (the view, usa today, cnn.com) and I was one of the people they asked to experiment with it. It's always worked for me. I'll let them know about your comments though and hopefully the kinks get worked out asap. As a friend of the company, thanks for all the feedback!!

    84. DG says – reply to this

      84

This isn't the only way they're marketing this. yea, breaking up on a voicemail is retarded, but for other reasons sometimes you really hope just to get a person's voicemail. Haven't you ever called a friend of yours about something and when they answer been like "oh I didn't think you'd answer I know you're busy I was just gonna leave you a voicemail." or something. Right? No big deal. You can use it without breaking up with a voicemail.
