Most Wanted

American Vogue may be in the shitter, but Italian Vogue is red hot!

Its 'all black' July issue was so popular that they went back and reprinted 10,000 issues for the US market.

The July Italian Vogue featured only black models in its editorial spreads.

Who said people of color don't sell magazines???

The notorious Naomi Campbell was the cover girl.

Photog Stephen Meisel, though, said that there was a "glaring lack" of black models in the advertisements.

Fashion houses Valentino, Prada, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana and Dior featured white models.

Hopefully all magazines will show more diversity in every issue!

Re: Anna – You are an idiot and an asshole. The point of creating and ALL BLACK issue is that EVERY OTHER ISSUE is an ALL WHITE ISSUE… do you not see this? Think before you speak you asshole.

I am really appalled by some of the comments. There has only been 1 issue showing attention to black models and that is racist? You gotta be joking. Are people really this slow?

      I just love this…
Forums and comment posts give ignorant cowards an anonymous place to post their hate and racism.
Some of these responses are so ludicrous, they are bordering on the ridiculous. I’m really glad you guys got the opportunity to get that out. You had your moment of glory…are you happy now? I sure hope so, you are starting to sound like a broken record to me.

I cannot believe some of the idiotic comments from Whites who think that ONE issue of Vogue equals reverse discrimination , when almost EVERYTHING else (99.9%) in the fashion industry is centered around Whites. As the Italian Vogue editors–and some astute commenters here–have indicated, the whole point of an all black Vogue was to highlight the DEARTH of blacks (female and, especially, male, to be frank) in the whole goddamn industry!!!

A lot of ppl say it's fine as long as they do an all white issue..um every month is an all white issue in high fashion mags. I'm not surprised that Italian Vogue sold a lot of copies of all blk models because a lot of Italian men love blk women. I think Italian men are the hottes men that god created follow by all other men and I'm a blk woman. Most of the blk women are know who are married to white men are married to Italians.

Re: Anna – Ah Anna, in case you don't realize which apparently you don't, most magazines are ALL WHITE you don't need a special WHITE issue wherein lies the point of Italian Vogue

when are you jealous ass white folks going to wake up and realize that your thin lipped, flat ass, pasty skin, stringy haired, and hook nose version of beauty has always been celebrated. It is not racist if there are avenues that include all black or all latino people. If America was truly equal, than there would be no need for an all black editorial spread. How can you deny the beauty of dark bronze skin, natrually full lips, and round asses? Black and Latino women are truly delicious!!!

Re: Anna – To answer your question. Society does not need to do an all white issue because they are genrally all white issues. it is called white privelge because it is such a part of our very existence that one does not notice it is going on. Also the definition of racism is that people who are in the majority are the only ones who can be racist due to insitutional power. Dont get defensive just read about it you would feel more educated before you make a comment about racism. By the way I am not a minority instead of doing what most whites do with the guilt I decided to learn so that yes someday all kids can be equal.

people of color mean BLACK, LATINO and some ASIAN. The world begins to change White people not gonna stay the ”TOP” 4 ever . Now, we live in a white domination so its normal when you call black ,latino or asian diversity cause white isn't diversity. anyway me i'm not racist at allcause i'm not living in USA but in CANADA and I dated an italian lolll BLACK GIRLS RULES AND LATINA too

Designers like to show people who actually BUY THEIR CLOTHES!!!! There aren't too many Naomi's in the black community…wait, she doesn't buy hers either! I just proved my own point.

    24. stron says – reply to this

      124

Re: SL – That's some fucked up logic! To say that magazines don't feature Black models because Blacks don't (or can't afford to) buy the clothes. As if most White readers of Vogue can actually afford designer clothing! Please. Not too long ago, Mattel manufacturers of the White Barbie doll thought the same thing about Blacks until someone realized the stupidity of discounting whole segments of people by not designing and marketing ethnic dolls. As Mattel found, making assinine assumptions about groups of people solely based on generalities or stereotypes about ethnicity can make a huge difference in profit margins!

I'm getting the feeling that most people on here don't understand the concept of the devil's advocate. As with my original statement, I'm just proposing the thought of PROMOTING an all-white issue. If someone were to do that, as they are with the all-black issue, there would be a huge uproar. It is a double-standard. I've never said I think there should be an all-white issue printed, or that I don't think most magazines are primarily white as it is. (Which, again, I do not agree with.)

By the comments I'm getting, I'm going to assume that many of you think I'm caucasian. You're wrong, and shame on you for pre-judging.
