Man Accidentally Kills Pregnant Wife While Cleaning Gun
A pregnant woman and her unborn child have died in central Florida after being accidentally shot by the woman's husband, authorities said.
Yailen Abreu, 23, and the fetus died Tuesday at Orlando Regional Medical Center.
Orange County sheriff's officials said Abreu was hit in the stomach while her husband was cleaning his gun late Monday at their Orlando-area home. She was six months pregnant.
The bullet struck 39-year-old Enio Abreu in the hand before hitting in his wife, authorities said.

We have loaded guns in the house and I keep a 22 pistol on a high shelf over the TV. They are basically used to shoot the "critters" that get into birdfeeders and gardens. I personally have not shot an animal I shoot the ground. People need to double and triple check their gun to make sure it is empty before attemtping to clean it. This is a sad story but should not be taken lightly. Gun Safety People
For all you poeple who wonder why we need guns in our homes or on us.. You obviously live in a fairy tale word or have your head up your ass. When someone breaks into your house and has a knife or a gun, unlike you im smart enough to know my chances of surviving with a gun vs nothing and yes this does happen allot where i live. Soon we are gonna hear about a someone stabbing their family member while cleaning the dishes then all your morons are gonna start saying "ooo man whats up with this country why do we have knives in the house… boohoo"get over it… My question is this guy was stupid enough to have the gun loaded while cleaning it. I am a 21 year old female, and i own a gun. I live alone in an apartment, and keep the gun loaded, but no bullet is in the chamber and the safety is on, by my bed. I have training, and preach gun safety to everyone! Its sad this had to happen to this family, but i hope that its a lesson every gun owner can take with them. Not everyone who owns a gun is a redneck or irresponsible, they are normal Americans who want to protect themselves from anyone who tries to harm them.
Thats why it a good idea to check the gun before you clean it. It's even better to keep it in a safe away from men who kill their pregnant wife's. If it was truly an accident he made a stupid mistake but he should still do the time. We all have to pay for our mistakes.

Believe it or not…this actually happened to me(I'm not dead obviously) but I was 8 months pregnant and sitting on the couch at an angle from my husband (a United States Marine) and he was cleaning his pistol and it accidentally went off and shot through both of our couches and almost into my foot. Things happen and I thank God that nothing more than our couches were hit, and I am praying for this man because I can only imagine the guilt he is feeling.

Sounds suspicious to me too. Although this is very sad I'm sorry I noticed the age difference between the two. To me it's a little strange that a 39 year old man would get a 23 year old pregnant.
Oh Well, I mixed up the ages. IT was stupid of me to assume it was an older man which is usually the case. It is still strange and maybe the guy was too young and scared and it was no accident.

It's real easy to tell people they can't own guns when they've never been held up by one. The unfortunate reality is that criminals DO have guns and they don't care whether or not it's legal. And they will use them against you if given the opportunity. If you're lucky, the police can respond to a 911 call in 3-5 minutes. Set a timer and watch it. A lot can happen in 3-5 minutes. This is why I have a CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT to own a firearm and defend my family should the unthinkable happen again.

I believe this story. It's happened with my sister-in-law when her mother was shot in the left thigh accidently by her husband. He, too, was cleaning his gun when it popped off and hit his wife in the leg. Thank goodness it hit her than their son who was in the playpen behind her at the time! She survived it but had to spend months at the hospital.
