Heath's Legacy

080724ptr_heathledgerfiveleavesbar_002-2100px.jpg

Before Heath Ledger's untimely death earlier this year, the Australian actor was a partner and investor in a bar he planned to open in Brooklyn.

Well, now, the bar is going ahead as planned!

Heath's father, Kim, was convinced that Ledger would have wanted the bar to move forward. So, being the executor of his estate, he allowed the release of the funds his son had previously allocated for the project.

A Brooklyn boy until shortly before his passing, Heath's bar is located at the corner of Lorimer Street and Bedford Avenue in Greenpoint (Brooklyn), New York.

The new venue has a nautical theme and it is going to be called Five Leaves (after "Swan cigarette papers that tell you when there are just five left in a package").

It will be opened before the end of the year.

ALL of Heath Ledger's estate should go into a trust for his only child - his beloved 2 year old daughter, Matilda Rose Ledger. Heath's father and family are utterly disgraceful by choosing anything other than that.

      Re: wordt

word is correct - five leaves left is a Nick Drake thing, which yes, was also after the cigarette paper thing.

Sorry to sound so cold - but I am so sick and tired of hearing about Keith Leger…….he was just an actor, not God. And, sadly he died but so did many other young people in this world.

      Enough already!

Afterall, it was of his own making and stupidity.

Whoops - meant to say Heath Ledger……my husband's nephew just died at 29 years old…..his name was Keith and he was every bit as important as a person and another over paid actor.

I think it's odd that the bar is in Greenpoint. He lived in Boerum Hill. Opposite ends of Brooklyn.

Fuck. There goes my neighborhood. Greenpoint's been slowly invaded, but this is the end. It used to be a quiet polish neighborhood with no hipsters/tourists, but now everyone and their brother will come to "Heath's" bar. Thanks for this. No, really thanks. I hope you choke on a hot dog.

omg i live right around there. i walk by this every day. i had no idea that heath was copartner in turning it into a bar. wow. too bad he's not around to see it. but when it's complete, i'll stop in just for him.

it's actually greenpoint. williamsburg doesnt start until north 14/15th or so, so that corner is still greenpoint. it's across the street from mccarren park.

Nope, he lived in Boerum Hill. Why didn't dad open the bar near Atlantic Yards, then?? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boerum_Hill

I'm a HUGE Heath fan but as a Brooklyn native, hipsters like him are RUINING a working class neighborhood & pricing people out of their hometown of over 20+ years. Sadly this establishment will not help the situation :(

heath tried to pick me up a few blocks from this very spot about 3 1/2 years ago.he saw me from across the street and crossed over to walk with me for about 2blocks.he was talking in a texas accent.it was a cold fall day and he was wearing a light green wool ski cap over his head and ears,a wool coat and a messenger bag.i had no idea it was him until i saw a paparazzi pic of him in brooklyn, about a year later, wearing the same hat, coat, and messenger bag.i am a guy btw.this was before brokeback,so its very possible he was researching or something.i will probably get a million angry responses to this, but i swear to god its the truth.

everyone on this site is such a total asshole i'm not reading it anymore after this. Heath was an amazing person and a phenomenal actor. he was only 26 and not a huge druggie like amy winehouse. you're alive and well and he's dead in the ground why the F are people so jealous and have to be so disgustingly rude about someone who died. he was depressed and accidently o'd on prescription drugs, you'd think he was an ax murderer shot down by police or something the way everyone on here talks. seriously if you have that much hate for some poor young guy who never hurt anybody i hope you all o'd on draino.

      I am so going there.

He was an amazing actor. And I hate people who call him a druggie.

Loads of celebs take more drugs than he did. Why is he getting all this abuse?

      R.I.P Heath. Much love.

Perez baby. . he didn't live in Williamsburg. . he lived in on the other side of Brooklyn. . they really aren't the same place. So to say he was a brooklyn kid.. there are lots of neighborhoods in the BK. .and he wasn't part of that one. .

      its greenpoint.

i have lived here my entire life, and before all these damn hipsters popped up and started marking their own imaginary williamsburg lines, the majority of what people think is williamsburg is still greenpoint.

      check the zip codes.
      know what you're talking about.
