Sources reveal exclusively to PerezHilton.com that British funny man Russell Brand has been tapped to host this year's MTV Video Music Awards, airing from Los Angeles in September.

Who, say you????

Well, he's massive in the U.K. and has awards show hosting experience. Brand was the M.C. at the Brit Awards two years ago, which we attended.

Russell is also crazy. So, this should be interesting.

Who knows what the Forgetting Sarah Marshall star will have up his sleeve for the MTV audience?!

Russell says he's a reformed horn dog.

The VMAs always bring out the pretty girls. He'll be put to the test!

      Brand is brilliant. I suggest all the haters go and read his biography called "My booky Wook". he's over come so many obstacles and is a GREAT role model. Also… you should check out his BBC radio show (every Saturday night) as well as his viddy cast. He's the best!
