You'd think San Francisco would be a very open minded city?????
Guess they draw the line somewhere.
San Fran has arrested the somewhat well known New York' Naked Cowboy.
Yes, he sings on the streets with a guitar and in nothing but his whitey tidies.
What a better place than San Francisco for him to perform at!
Unfortunately for the cowboy, Robert Burck, he got arrested while singing on Friday.
Burck was in his usual costume of underpants, cowboy boots and a hat.
He was arrested outside of Frisco's Union Square for performing his act in a restricted area.
The officers say he violated the rules posted in Union Square against soliciting. Burck and the cop argued before he was finally arrested.
He was cited for "violating a posted sign" and will need to go to court this week.
As for the cops, Burck says, "It was nonstop. They're laughing hysterically because there's this guy in his underwear. Then they were like, 'Oh, that's the Naked Cowboy.' "
Oh, well. He should have read the signs.
We're sure the boys in the Castro would have welcomed him with open arms!

a couple months back
I was hanging out in a local bar in town, when I was approached by this slimy grease-choad. This dude was claiming to be naked cowboy's manager, like i was supposed to swoon.
He was wearing his cheap sunglasses in the bar, probably to cover up some of the greassyness of his face, and he was passing out buisness cards and glossy fliers with the naked cowboy on them….it was the tackiest thing EVER!!!!

He must've been freezing! It's totally foggy and 58 degrees! Obviously a tourist. The cleaned up, no tolerance Union Square was not the best place for him… he would have been much better off in the Castro or at the Wharf.

This Naked Cowboy is like part of your culture and when the policemen are harassing him, it gives two signals. One, these policemen have nothing to do, and they need better way to deal with this kind of situation. If he was like those overweight policemen I see on TV I would rather see him walk around half naked.
You're talking about Edwin Ramos - he's an illegal immigrant and an alleged gang member whose accused of murdering three people - a father and two sons - a really sad story. They mayor of SF is in deep s*** over this one - he's set the city up as a safe sanctuary for illegals. I agree - kind of weird when this guy, whose only singing in his undies, gets arrested, but SF doesn't want to clamp down on illegal aliens.

The Naked Cowboy was recently on People's Court with an issue with his girlfriend. It was quite funny to watch. They made him put on a long overcoat during the televised show. Apparantly he has a live 24/7 webcam going and she did not like it.

However, the same city has a policy that forbids authorities from turning over illegal immigrant felons to the federal government because it's a "sanctuary city"? I live in San Francisco and I just saw him on Saturday. So apparently he went back to doing the same thing after he was arrested on friday.
Re: Ino – It's not just drug charges. The SF Juvenile Probation Dept. has a policy not to consider immigration status when dealing with an offender of any crime. The dept. does not turn over illegal immigrant felons to the federal government - been that way since SF proclaimed itself a sanctuary city in '89. Ask the widow of Tony Bolgna - she lost her husband and two sons - allegedly murdered by Edwin Ramos, an illegal juvenile criminal who has been shielded thanks to SF's law.
