The Sopranos' Vincent "Big Pussy" Pastore is set to play a mobster in the ABC soap General Hospital.
Looks like Puss has gone from the Majors to the Minors.

Are there any other shows, outside of GH, that prominently features gangsters at the moment?
Does that mean we may see Uncle Junior or Paulie on General Hospital too?

General Hospital is awesome!!! Give it a watch sometime, you might like it!!! Look at the many celebrities who got their start there. Even Billy Dee Williams is heating up the night shift!

WTF!! General Hospital is an AWESOME SHOW!!! Vincent will be a great addition. GH is NOT a step down! Okay, well maybe from HBO it is, but GH has the best cast and storyline around.
I used to watch that show, it used to be good. It has SUCKED ass ever since they made the whole show about the mob, Carly, Sonny, etc though. The mobsters are actually the GOOD guys, or so the writers would have you believe.

I hate mobster type people. Whether they are real ones or just wannabes. They are so sleazy acting and immature. I hardly think that a soap is a step down. It is just a different material. I for one am a huge fans of soaps…and never watched a day of the Soprano's in my life. So, the fact that Vincent might be making the move to daytime…means he may have one new fan he didnt have before!!! Love GH by the way!
An acting gig is an acting gig. The soap stars work harder on a daily basis for more years than any other genre. They are like their own little broadway. Pretty snobby take for a gossip maven, lol. A good man isn't too big to sweep the floors where he works, even if he owns the building.
I love you Perez, but I think it's pretty offensive to soap fans and soap actors everywhere, to call soap operas the minors. These are actors who work everyday, sometimes for decades. An actor would kill for a steady job like that. Hell, they even have their own seperate Emmy show. Now don't get me wrong, some soaps are crap, and some soap actors are even worse, but not all. Especially General Hospital and ABC soaps in particular.
Now, put aside my rant and know that I love you PErez. ANd you're looking good lately. Keep up the hard work baby!

I would challenge any tv or movie actor to go on any soap opera for a week and they will tell you that it is harder then making any weekly TV show or movie, these actors are the best in the craft, they work long hours, they have pages and pages of dialogue to remember everyday, they don't go on break for the summer, they work almost every day without a break and their are no repeats. Most of todays hollywood celebrities would break under the pressure and these soap opera actors don't make millions of dollars for a month's worth of work. Soap Opeara actors/actresses should be looked up to not down at.

there is another show which you may have heard of called the secret life of the american teenager on abc family channel. His name is Steve Schirripa and he used to play Bobby Baccalieri on he Sopranos and now he plays the father to one of the main characters on the show.

Actually, as a fan of ABC soaps, I know he was on One Life To Live a few years ago…along the same time he was doing Sopranos he had a small part. Go look on his IMDB resume, it's there. It's not like he is any stranger to soaps. And it's better than doing reality TV like he was recently!

Just to answer you quest of other soaps and their gangster story lines…. The Young and the Restless is now getting into the gangster business. Although the main focus (a fellow calling himself David Chow) just died in a car wreck. This happened right after a P.I. figured out who he really was. Don't know if his "boss" will stick around or not.
Considering that he's a snitch who ratted the entire Soprano crew out to the feds, I would say he's lucky to get any work. Can I get a what-what?

I used to go to his bar that he owned in New Rochelle NY - The Crazy Horse - back in the 80's. I'd say this is a big step up from hanging after hours with him. Work is work, and there's nothing to be ashamed of and no one has the right to criticize how you make a living to support yourself or your family.

How can you say a show that has been on over 45 years is a step down? Not to mention a show that launched the careers of John Stamos, Rick Springfield, Antonio Sabato Jr, Jack Wagner, Vanessa Marcil and many more. Very few shows last past 5 years. Give GH the credit it deserves.
I'm confused about how you consider GH a step down. It has been almost half a century, launched the careers of numerous film and TV stars including Demi Moore, John Stamos, Janine Turner, etc and at its peak attacted 30 million TV viewers. I guarantee you more people have watched GH over the years and know the names LUKE & LAURA than know the name Tony Soprano.

that's nothing I saw a commercial with him advertising a restaurant in New Rochelle. It was so budget. You could see him even hear how cheap the commercial is

General Hospital is one of the best shows on tv–daytime or primetime. Brendon Barash who plays Johnny Zacchara is awesome and Genie Francis is coming back for some appearances in August.

Soap actors do a one hour show EVERY DAY. When he was on the Sopranos he did a one hour show a WEEK.

General Hospital is a wonderful soap opera. I believe they won outstanding soap, not this year, but the year before. I may be wrong…but I'm pretty sure. And, soaps are generally a stepping stone for actors Perez, take Fergie's fiance Josh Duhamel (last name may be spelled wrong) was on a soap, and than went to a show (which has since been cancelled) where he acted alongside Vanessa Marcelle who is also from a soap (Brenda from GH). Maybe you think that it's a step down but what I understand is that where evening shows are losing their audience, daytime TV is still thriving. Check your facts Perez.
This is definitely not a step down. GH is one of the better soaps on daytime. The story lines are getting better and they actually just won a daytime emmy for best show. So if Puss had a choice of any soap, I think he picked the right one. Also, according to the soap magazines, the fan base for these soaps is amazing. Sonny Corinthos has more of a following than Tom Cruise.
Ok, I have to laugh at some of the comments. I watch GH, but most of these comments had to have been made from their publicist or soap people pissed that they were dissed. Yeah, GH is better than the Sopranos and more people know Sonny Corinthos than Tony Soprano. Give me a fucking break! Perez is a moron, but I see his point. Sopranos was a massive hit, a classic that many think is tv's all time best drama. GH is a daytime soap opera that isn't what it used to be. Luke and Laura was 30 years ago. The guy who writes the show now is no David Chase and their ridiculous mob s/l is not the Sopranos. You either start out on a soap and become big like Demi Moore or you go there when other opportunities dry up, like a lot of old prime time actor/actresses. Vincent Pastore is D-list, even when the Sopranos was on air. If it was James or Edie it would be sad, but this is a good thing for VP.
