Back To The Streets of S.F.

Remakes are not just for the big screen!

Both Steve Keller and Mike Stone will soon be heading to The Streets of San Francisco.

CBS will be turning the 1970s cop series into a contemporary show. The original starred Michael Douglas and Karl Malden.

The remake will keep key elements from the original shows. Such as the same names of the two main character, the same show title, and the same setting at the City by the Bay.

Writer Sheldon Turner says, "The times are very similar — it was the Vietnam War in the 1970s and the Iraq War now. There is the same sort of tension between generations, and we wanted to carry that to the new series."

There will also be references to John McCain and Barack Obama.

Turner adds, "One, like Obama, wants to be active and believes in rehabilitation, while the other one, like McCain, doesn't quite believe in rehabilitation and believes that the enemy is the enemy."

Sounds like a snooezefest.

It totally belongs on CBS, the old people's network!

Let's see, another negative liberal comment about Obama being the MESSIAH and McCain being crap.
    1. In spite of Obama's Godlike (or so he thinks) World Tour, McCain is STILL HEAD of him in some polls
    2. Any stupid liberally themed movies in the past few years (Rendition, Redaction, Lions for Lambs, etc. always blows chunks and makes no money). So have fun with your stupid opinions. No one gives a shit.

Perez, it actually sounds pretty cool. If everyone cared as much about Politics and our Country as they care about Gossip, maybe our country would go the way we'd like. You should really get some good Obama info on here more often.

I'm so sick of this remake crap! You can't remake the show. It was a different time in television history! Now it will be PC and dumbed down.

Why are they paying more money to the writers if they are not coming with any new ideas and keep on remaking old hits??? So unfair! Networks should fired them and hire really talented people able to come up with a bright and contemporary idea.

First of al Frisco is the shit and I would think Perez would be up on that…. But anyway, secondly we DO NOT have enough shows in or near the BEST city by the Bay so any show that feautures the BEST city in the world can't be all bad. However I do agree that remakes need to really stop. Why change anything classic? How about a NEW show set in the 'sco…!;)

They've tried bringing back Mission Impossible (with a much older Peter Graves) after a writers strike. They also tried Dragnet and Adam-12. All of which bombed big time.

As for S.O.S.F…. I thought the show was boring the first time around. Hollywood isn't even trying anymore.

I LOVED Streets growing up! It was NOT a political cop show. It was a straight "Quinn Martin production." Every episode was a little morality tale with lots of San Francisco thrown in. San Francisco was a main character and it was fun watching them go from one side of the city to another in a car chase. It was a fun show, but it does not need to be remade. "Nash Bridges" was filmed in SF and it SUCKED!

Re: VadgeIsAHag – Figures can lie and liars can figure. I wouldn't believe any U.S. media poll owned by private interests. Just like Pravda now.

There is a differece between "crime" and "Terror". Terrorists aim at harming innocent people for political cause.
It "war" but not in a fair manner in the battlefield and without wearing uniform.
    .
Criminals don't harm people for the sake of harming them and do not do that just to win a political cause of destroying a country and acting against a certain society.

Streets of San Francisco as straight up the best cop show of the seventies. But I wonder if they can do it right. Movie remakes are bad enough but tv show remakes are even worse. Bionic Woman ring any bells? (ok so that one wasn't so great the first time around) I just hope they don't totally screw it up.

Streets was the BEST!!! My favorite show of its kind. Always great storylines and a fantastic cast. I hope they cast it right, they're a tough duo to beat. When that show aired, Michael Douglas was by far the hottest, most charming man on TV. I once met Karl Malden and his wife, and they were the sweetest & cutest couple on the planet! Do this show justice and make sure you have the right actors and writers. And be sure to use the same awesome theme song!

Obama has greasy eyelids. He's using an old choirboy trick of putting vaseline on his eyelids to make it look like he has more light on him than he does… "angelic light" coming down from above.

That's where the sparkle comes from. Greasy eyelids.

Great, just what we need in the oval office. Ol' Greasyeyes.

Weird seeing a dude walking around a country fair eating country jam and blinking his greasy eyes.

These OLD PEOPLE cracks you keep making are really insulting — it's obvious you think you're 17 still, when you're OLD yourself - over 30. Why, in some cultures you would already be put out on the iceflow, cracker!
