without even looking, I am sure whatever it is has to be homo related. you homos tend to base everything you believe in or vote on around your sex life.

    15. 15

Yes, now all people can be miserable in a contract called marriage. Why would anyone want to sign a contract just to be with someone? Biggest mistake the gays ever did was want marriage.

I live in MA, and I feel so proud to live in a state that is changing with the times, rather than trying to remain an oppresive place for gays to live. Woohoo, MA!

    18. 18

      Good for them! :]
Stuff like this help me ignore the troubles of the world!!!

    19. larry says – reply to this

      19

Re: WTF – you're very ignorant. because, you know… gays can't fall in love and want to have a stable household or anything? if you don't live in a red state, you should think about moving to one.

    20. Shann says – reply to this

      20

Ok, yay for gay rights and all, that's awesome. But this is gross:

"Massachusetts allows first-cousins to marry, but half the states in the country do not. Rushing said some first-cousins from out of Massachusetts have undoubtedly been allowed to marry here since 1913."

      29

My partner and I got married in Provincetown in 2005. We live in PA but at the time they were allowing out of state couples to marry. Since then they changed the law and now are changing it back.

Are we still married, or what? Do we have to go back and do it again?

Look into that for us, will you Perez?

(I have to say that I really appreciate most of the comments on this news. Perhaps the world isn't so bad after all.)

      best regards!

I am from Massachusetts, and I am very happy we are doing this. I am not gay, but I have to say for all you people leaving rude comments, it disgusts me. No one stops people from marrying the person you love, it shouldn't matter if it same sex or not, love is love. And all those people who have their "religious" values, get real. Times have changed since the bible was written. I support Gay Marriage and I am proud to live in a state that does too! GO MASSACHUSETTS!

i'm a gay male and i say good for this..but i don't have a big desire to have marriage rights. Domestic partnership benefits, yes…but I don't feel the need to have the marriage title. We are all different…but equal. i don't need the same title…just the same rights. People and lifestyles are all different. I hope straight people don't feel gay people are trying to take anything away from them. It is just my opinion. Live and let live. I respect my straight friends…appreciate when they do the same.

      41

Way to go MA. Leave it to our "leaders" to leave us, the taxpayers of the Commonwealth, out of the loop by not putting this on the ballot in November…cowards.
You know why people on this board are jumping for joy, they know that if any gay marriage bill were on a ballot for the residents to vote, it would NEVER pass.
I think it is time to move out of MA. Taxes, Deval Patrick, Ted "my head hurts" Kennedy and now any and all gays can marry. Don't get me wrong, I have no issue with ANYONE being together, joining or a civil union…but I do not think the word marriage should be attached to a gay couple.

WTG MA. I wish all the states would see it this way. Love is love no matter who it is between. We have freedom of speech and freedom of religion so why not the freedom to love? I think if someone want to get married they should be allowed to, no matter who it is to. They have to deal with the good and bad parts of it. Not us. Go MA! Go MA! Go MA!

    69. Laure says – reply to this

      69

Ok - it's not "awesome." It's going to create A LOT of problems. Did you read the freaking article? Other states will not be obligated to recognize these marriages which means they cannot divorce in their home state. In addition, these people will have NONE of the benefits of being married in their own states so it effectively means NOTHING that it's being repealed.

I don't understand this. I live in Boston and the people here are so conservative and HATE gays! I work at a company with a bunch of conservative republicans and they hate everyone, immigrants, people of color, and gays! I'm from California and I had so many gay friends here not one! They are doing this just to seem liberal but it's so not the case. People here suck!!!!!

    71. redic says – reply to this

      71

yeah living in mass is great…last time i checked this country was built around the fact that there would be federal and state laws. apparently mass doesnt see a reason to respect the laws of the other states. sure come here and get married and then disregard the law in your own state. im happpy mass is so good to the gays of the country when in the meantime theyre bumping the price of our cigarettes up over a dollar and telling us its illegal to go to another state and buy a shit load of cigarettes at a lower more reasonable price. VERY FAIR. and aerosmith is a band from new hampshire not masss.

    72. Ash17 says – reply to this

      72

Hey Perez, are you going to marry anyone soon? Yeah, didn't think so.

Do you just agree with any liberal stance without doing your own research?

    73. cmmrm says – reply to this

      73

I can happily say that truth is truth, irrespective of who is delivering, or deliberating it. It is independent of people's opinions, and does not change just because the majority of a people, or even ALL people say differently. Marriage is sacred, and is reserved to be between a man and woman. That is truth. Independent of what anyone otherwise says.

Re: WTF – Actually, a lot of us responding to this are not homos. In Mass. we just sort of think that equality is for everyone — heck gays are no different from other folks, why shouldn't they have the right to marry? See? Are we really so crazy? Isn't it crazy to think otherwise? Like why should I work shoulder to shoulder with my colleague who has to pay twice as much for healthcare than me because my partner can be a spouse and hers can't? Just insane, right? Also, regarding your comment, what does marriage have to do with sex? Allowing people to settle down with one beloved person has little to do with sex and more to do with commitment, responsibility, and love.

It took courage then, and courage now, to move forward rather than do the cowardly thing — put it on the ballot to be reversed. Keith, why on Earth do you deserve more than your fellow man, be he black, gay, or otherwise? Please do not respond with a Church thing, because I am Christian, but love my country for separating Church and state. We are founded on that –have you considered, maybe, other countries? That would be COURAGEOUS of YOU.

Re: doug – … then we all should only have civil unions, like France does. Leave "marriage" to our respective religions. In the meantime, if one group gets to have marriage — and all the legal privileges of it (like visiting your loved one in the ICU or leaving your property tax-free) why should another couple suffer the consequences? Gays pay taxes and follow all the laws, too, why should they be penalized? Marriage or Civil Unions — not one for one segment, and another for another segment. That just ain't fair — or American.

I'm from MA and I think this is great! The citizens didn't get to vote on it and for the State to do something like this on their own…A-MA-ziiiiing! I am not gay and I am married and if we got to vote I would have said "ALLOW IT!"

To all of those that don't like it, think about the state that you're in that doesn't recognize common law marriage. Now, the person you've been with for 20 years is on their death bed. YOU HAVE NO SAY in the care or treatment the love of your life is hit with. Bet nobody thinks that's fair…just guessing. It is more of a victory because the gay married couples can voice their loved ones wishes and be involved with the medical decisions. More than just sharing health benefits here, IMO.

So, the straights in love for 20 years and living together should now just fight to be able to make medical decisions for their loved ones in any non-common law marriage state.

      Have a good evening.

Okay a couple of comments. Firstly: GO YOU GOOD THINGS IN MASSACUSETTS (sp? forgive me, I'm Australian)! Way to move with the times. Secondly: To all you crazies out there going on about marriage being of a man and a woman - according to whom? If you're basing this on the bible, remember that Christians are not the only people who get married. Would you say a Jewish person, a Bhuddist, an agnostic, can't get married because you see it as a thing of faith? Ultimately, the government should have no say in who gets married based on issues of religion - cause remember SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE - you can't make rules based on the bible!!! And lastly, all you people who object because of what it 'states' in the bible about laying with a man - the same passage also says that anyone who works on the sabbath should be stoned. That it is a mortal sin to kill another, whether you are at war or NOT, and that to touch the skin of a pig is punishable by cutting off your hands. How many of these folks who spout this garbage play football? My point is, it's called an ancient text for a reason. Religion, as with everything else on teh planet, evolves and changes with its people. Get a clue.

      Peace.
