Guitarist and singer Chuck Berry pulled out of two sold-out concerts in Spain this past weekend - at the very last minute. Without any explanation!
Shady.
The action has caused many to speculate over his health, as the musician turns 82 years old in a few months.
According to organizers, Berry is on tour in Europe and had been paid for the two concerts already.
The promoters might consider taking legal action.
And, to make it even worse, it was just ONE hour before he was supposed to go on stage when his agent called the promoters to let them know that the singer had left the country.
He left behind some 4,000 very unhappy fans.
A statement released by the organizers, says "With only a few concerts scheduled in our country, his rudeness left his promoter and his fans without a concert."
As for Berry's health, a friend reveals, "There were rumours that he has not been feeling well during his current tour, and suffered pain on stage at a concert. We are not sure of Chuck's exact whereabouts at the moment."
Well, we hope he's well.
He shouldn't be working that hard at 82!

I performed in the World Veteran Olympics Opening Ceremony in Buffalo a decade and a half ago and Chuck Berry was the headlining act–he kept trying to get teenage girls to go back to his trailer with him and he was totally lascivious.

Amazing the he can still do a performance at 82! My mil is 82 and she justs sits and stares at the tv-it is sad that older performers did not get the same type of money that performers get nowadays. Alot were not able to just 'retire' needing to do keep performing or learn something new. hope he is okay. should have to pay back the money, but most performers are probably paid ahead. Damn, Celine D. was selling tickets 10 months ahead of performing.
Ok, first, this is CHUCK BERRY! He's an original god of rock and roll and he has worked harder than almost anyone around today. He became famous because people heard and loved his music, not because they wanted to fit into his clothes or smell like him or do do the sexy hula with him. Second, he's 82, he can do what he wants. I just hope he's going to be ok. I love you Perez, but you need to put on some 50's-60's rock and dance some respect back into your ears. You'll thank me later!

Chuck's son, Chuck Jr., always tours and performs with his dad. He wouldn't let Chuck pull out of a concert unless his health was the issue. I highly doubt there's anything "shady" going on - the man's 82 for f*ck's sake. A true fan would understand that.

Re: alex – oh yeah he sells out all the time at Blueberry Hill in St. Louis. He puts on a show every other month or so and it always sells out weeks before.
Say it ain't so. I hope whatever prompted him to cancel is temporary. Even at 82, he still rocks

Yup, I saw him play the last show he did at Blueberry Hill. 82 and he still rocked the place. Amazing. He's cancelled the last show, and has it rescheduled for next month. He cancelled a few shows earlier this year too. 82 is just old. No doubt about it. And, really, so what if he's a dirty old man. We all are, just not all of us are rock stars and 82. He had both his adult kids on stage playing with him, and they obviously loved their dad, warts and all.

He was supposed to perform at the ASU football game against USC last Thanksgiving with our band but pulled out last minute too. I had to rewrite the press release when we got Little Richard instead. His PR guy said he has been really sick recently.
