Magazine sales are down - way down.

Across the boards, people bought less mags at newsstands, but some titles are double DOUBLE DIGITS in the first half of the year.

Surprisingly, the mag that was hurt the most was Oprah's, followed closely by Anna Wintour's Teen Vogue and Vogue.

On the bright side, Vanity Fair saw an increase in their readership during the first half of the year.

Their newsstand sales are up by 5.8% thanks to that little slut!

The reason mag sales are down (besides the fact that the economy sucks ass!) is that people can watch shows on a lot of those topics now using cable, and internet searches provide similar enjoyment for people. The only mags listed above that I used to subscribe to are Marie Claire and Good Housekeeping, and Cosmo a LONG time ago. Oh, and I like In Style. But, who has the $ or the time to read magazines anymore!? Buh-bye magazines of the past!

It's sad, but why buy a mag when you can see almost the entire contents on the web for free? Fan sites scan mags all the time and big photo shoots are covered by gossip sites.

Oprah is such a moron. I can't stand her and I'm actually glad her magazine sales are down. And Teen Vogue and Vogue magazine is just a JOKE. I actually looked at those two magazines and the prices are just ridicilous. Honestly, no teens can afford those stupid looks they put in the magazines. It's just a horrible magazine. Perez, you oversized fool. If you "hate" Miley Cyrus so much, why do you keep talking about her? Are you having a slow day again. In the case of the "controversial" photo, the person who deserves credit for Vanity Fair's success is the great Annie Leibowitz, who regularly shakes people up with her images (for the Cyrus family to pretend they did not know this going in and are not thrilled with their result is ridiculous).
Not to mention Wollcott, Hitchens, Wolff, Dunne and all the other great writers who contribute to the magazine.

Oprah's magazine started out at 28.00 a year for a subscription!!! Now it's "only" $18.00! That's more than most people are willing to pay. I don't know who she thinks she is, but 10.00, or 12.00 at MOST, is more like it.

Ever since Oprah self righteously laid into James Frey thousands of viewers have lost interest in her show. She came out looking less than professional in that incident. On top of that her long string of associations with Hollywood figures have tempered the devotion of her regular viewers. Time to step back and re-evaluate her image and show.

I've never bought the Oprah Magazine. Elle is my fave of the bunch, Glamour I've never been into, InStyle sucks although I might get this month's cuz Rihanna is on the cover. GQ I have bought like 4 times if there's a funny man on the cover like Will Ferrel. Teen Vogue has a lot of cool dresses and I like to have someone replicate for me to wear for a nice party, Vogue I only buy if there's a model on the cover. I always read my sisters GH mags, Seventeen is blah. and while Marie Claire still has great articles about women around the world, they no longer do interesting celeb articles like when they had Drew, Cameron, and the Asian actress (I forgot her name!) do a survival thing in the woods and they documented it all, or when Rebecca Romijn swam with sharks or when Claire Danes went to a koala sanctuary or whatever. I don't know why Marie Claire changed this but I didn't renew my subscription in part because of this.
