ACTUALLY, this is a major blow to the economy. Closing 800 stores is loss of tax revenue for every town that houses these places and by my calculation, there will be at least 10,000 people out of jobs, literally, overnight. With the economy on pause, reemployment is very, very difficult. It all adds up.

Don't you remember them closing down? In fact I don't recall the last time I saw a Bennigan's (or even a commercial for that matter). According to the updated news report it appears that the company owned ones are closing but the franchised ones are still open. I going to have to make a few calls.

Metromedia Restaurant Group filed Chapter 7 Bankruptcy on Bennigan's, Steak and Ale, and Tavern Restaurants but did not file for others they own (Bonanza and Ponderosa Steak Houses.) But they haven't posted any news of the bankruptcy on their site.
