Ed McMahon's Life Sucks Even More

Filed under: Old People > Ed McMahon

edmcm.jpg

The old dog just can't catch a break!

In addition to trying to save his house, Ed McMahon has a new lawsuit to deal with.

Attorney Norman Solovay has just filed suit against McMahon for $275,168. The Star Search alum had hired Solovay to act as his daughter's divorce attorney. The attorney claims that Ed has not paid his outstanding bills.

A representative for the former Johnny Carson sidekick was not available for comment.

Will we be seeing a McMahon estate sale soon?

His alleged shopaholic wife must have some expensive Hermes bags and jewels she can sell to help the cause!

EVERYONE in Hollywood's a friend until you hit hard times. All you folks with your hand out need to help Ed find a few gigs. Ed's always been good for it in the past, and with a little patience and a whole lot of humanity from all his old 'friends', he'll pay everyone back. Right, networks??? Ed can REPRESENT. There are plenty of retired folks left in your demographic. Quit whining and help him out. Jay Leno could hire him for his new (?) variety show in some capacity as a nod to Johnny. He's recovering from an effing broken neck, for gawd's sake.

He didn't make the kind of money then that is offered now. Like the old timer hockey players who later barely met the standard of living. He's made enough, but I still think the older community should step up, there but for the grace of God. Let Africa help themselves for a brief minute. Team Ed.

I disagree. He's not unlucky. In fact he's the luckiest man in the history of show business. He has no actual talent, isn't funny, doesn't write anything… he's made MILLIONS AND MILLIONS sitting next to talented people.

Financial disparity can be maddening. You've got people like Candy Spelling sitting on a mountain of money her deserving (btw) (RIP) husband earned, and then you've got an industrious old-timer like Ed treading water at 84. It makes me wonder how many managers (if any) helped themselves to his earnings along the way. Imagine digging yourself out at 84. Godspeed to Ed McMahon. If I lived in L.A. and was in the biz, I'd find a way to assist him in some way.

  21. 21

    This is so sad.

I want to be sympathetic but he made MAJOR money all those years. That's HIS problem if he squandered it/bought overpriced things with it/let others manage it/let his wife spend it all.

Re: 9inch – If being humiliated andin the red with a broken neck at 84 is not unlucky, I'd like to see what you consider unlucky. Have a heart. You may be 'right', but have one anyway. Sometimes there are circumstances.

I don't feel the least bit sorry for this pathetic old gas bag and neither should anyone else. Over his long career he made millions and blow it all like a drunken sailor. He spent millions and millions had has nothing to show for it and we're suppose to feel for him? There are people who have made a hundred times less and have now retired into a comfortable lifestyle because they were smart. Too bad he wasn't but that's his problem.

I feel sorry for Ed McMahon. He has gotten himself into a very bad situation with a wife who only uses him and cares absolutely nothing for him. I RECENTLY SAW HIM WITH HIS WIFE AND HER FAMILY ON CELEBRITY FAMILY FEUD. SHE KEPT TURNING AWAY FROM HIM WHENEVER HE TURNED TO HUG HER, AND SHE WOULD HUG HER SON INSTEAD. IT WAS OBVIOUS HE LITERALLY MAKES HER SICK. SHE ACTED AS THOUGH SHE WAS THE CELEBRITY, NOT HIM, HOGGING ALL THE ATTENTION, PRACTICALLY SCREAMING AT AL ROKER, WHO FINALLY CHIDDED HER ABOUT HER CONSTANT INTERRUPTIONS. ED'S FAMILY/CHILDREN WERE NOT THERE, ONLY HERS. AND $275,000 FOR A DIVORCE? WTF? THE LAWYER IS PROBABLY A FRIEND OF HIS WIFE'S! POOR ED. AT HIS AGE AND WITH HIS FAILING HEALTH I'M SURE HE DOESN'T HAVE THE STRENGTH TO GO THRU ANOTHER DIVORCE OF HIS OWN. HE IS FORCED TO LIVE WITH A WOMAN WHO CARES NOTHING FOR HIM.

I feel sorry for the poor girl he adopted with that 'wife' of his. The kid now gets-zero, plus an old pepaw for a father. LOSER! And he thought his old shite didn't stink during the carson days. HAH!

  27. 27

I like the dude, but I have to pay my legal fees and so should he. I am tired of him trying to gain sympathy from the public just because he used to be a semi big shot.
If his wife is spending like there is no tomorrow, maybe there isn't as far as she is concerned.

Re: PLS! – Ed was smart. When you get older, you start to miss things, forget some others, and people take advantage. Notice Ed had no financial trouble until he was 84. Hell, the STAFF stole stuff out of my Dad's room at a Veteran's Care Centre, and he was a decorated fighter pilot and F/o in WWII, and managed everything impeccably until his mind and body started to fail him.
You may eat your words if you manage to arrive at geriatric city in a few years.

Look–seriously. This old guy made tons of money throughout his career. You can't tell me he couldn't afford this effing house. Why didn't he just buy it? I realize you need credit but dear god get a credit card. That way–if things get hard–then you own your house! Duh. So–sorry. I feel no pity for him.

    32

Why on earth is there any sympathy being given to this man? He had it all, was making a boat load of money riding off of the success of Carson. He had a once in a lifetime chance to take those great earnings and conservatively save and spend towards a successful retirement, and now the dumb old man is broke thanks to his stupid squandering and the money loving women in his life. I bet he'll file for unemployment and bankruptcy too, which will make me sick because now us working stiffs will have to bail him out. All those hundred of thousands of dollars in owed debt will eventually get passed down to us. Is he getting sympathy because he's old? Who freaking cares. Idiocy knows no bounds when it comes to race, age, or gender.

You mean to tell me that all the rich so called celebrity friends he had, no one would help him out? I find that outrageous…

  36. Alex says – reply to this

    36

NO ONE WILL HELP HIM OUT, BECAUSE OF HIS WIFE. THEY WILL BE REWARDING HER OVERSPENDING, AND THEY KNOW IT. THAT'S WHY NONE OF HIS SO-CALLED RICH FRIENDS WILL HELP HIM OUT. HIS CURRENT WIFE GOT HIM INTO THIS, AND NONE OF HIS FRIENDS WANT TO PAY HER BILLS, WHICH WILL ONLY ACCUMULATE AGAIN. AND AT 84 SHAME ON HIM FOR NEEDING ANY MONEY. 84 PEOPLE!!! HIS HOUSES SHOULD HAVE BEEN PAID OFF DECADES AGO. HE SHOULDN'T NEED ANY MONEY. BUT THAT WIFE SPENT HIM INTO THE POOR HOUSE, AND ALL HIS FRIENDS KNOW IT. IT'S HER THAT THEY DON'T WANT TO HELP, NOT HIM. AND YOU CAN'T HELP HIM WITHOUT HELPING HER. NO ONE WANTS TO HELP HER.
