It's Brett, Bitch

He wants to give you NFL fans more, more, more!

League bosses have confirmed that Brett Favre has sent his reinstatement paperwork to the NFL and is awaiting approval from commissioner Roger Goodell.

According to reports, once Favre is granted reinstatement the, Packers would have 24 hours to release the quarterback or return him to their active roster.

If Goodell reinstates Favre today, Wednesday, his return to the practice field for the Cheeseheads would most likely come Friday.

Green Bay coach Mike McCarthy said on Tuesday, "It's obviously the first step in Brett coming back, but we'll deal with that when Brett is reinstated and have a plan for that when he comes back."

The source goes on to report that the team has no plans to grant Favre the release he has requested, suspecting that he would immediately sign with division rival Minnesota. The Packers own Favre's rights until his contract expires after the 2010 season, making a trade the most likely outcome acceptable to both Favre and the Packers.

Sign with a rival?

Scandalous!

What say you Cheeseheads?

Maybe Brett's just doing this for the money?????

His peak playing days are definitely behind him!

Brett is one of the best players to hit the field…he has plenty of career ahead of him. The Packers have made a huge mistake in not taking him back as their first-string quarterback and he deserves to be able to go to any team he wants so we can keep seeing this great talent!

I know why he's doing it… There was a great Real Sports episode on HBO a while back that had to do with NFL players after they retire. Many of them go off the deep end and become depressed and then ultimately turn to violence and drugs to satisfy their aggression that was always able to be satisfied on the football field. I truly believe that because he played for so many years, and really only knows his identity as a football player, now that he "retired" he doesn't know what to do with himself at home. Is sounds as though he may be following in the footsteps of the other former NFL players that were on that episode of Real Sports. It's a shame, actually.

    11. 11

Actually, if i'm not mistaken, last season was one of his best seasons….

You guys are all a bunch of fucktards. Brett's been in the league longer than fifteen years. He doesn't need the money! He's got endorsement money and contract money flowing in from all over. He lives on a fucking ranch in Mississippi, not in some mansion on the lake by Shaq and Tiger. Lay off, the man plays ball and he plays it well.

Give him some respect. After this long, with multiple MVPs under his belt, he deserves at least that!

No way is it about the money, just like it wasn't about the money when MJ came back to basketball…twice. Favre loves the game and doesn't know what to do in the Fall if he wasn't playing. He wants one last swan song and the Pack should give it to them for his loyalty to them all these years.

I am a Cowboy fan and love to hate Brett Favre. But, he led his team to the NFC Championship Game last year. He is at minimum the 6th best active quarterback in the league. He is by far the best quarterback on the Packers and they should be kissing his feet welcoming him back. Love ya, Perez, but don't spit on a legend just to do it. ScottBrooks.com

      51

About the money?? It has NEVER been about the money with him. He has always been a class act up in Green Bay and never complained about his contract. He did his job, stayed out of trouble, and was one hell of a player. It's obvious that his love of the game has made it really hard for him to let go and retire. When you've done something all you're life, it's all you know, and it's pretty much who you become. His life has been about football since his early days and he still has that childlike passion/spirit on and off the field. I'm sure anyone would struggle with deciding to let go of a large part of their live, who they are, a thing that may be the only thing they've known, and is their passion. If it were about the money, he would started complaining a LONG time ago, and that's not what he's doing. All he wants is to continue playing football.

    52. PackF says – reply to this

      52

As a Packer fan, I'd be disappointed to see him go. But, he's lost the starting job to Rogers and the Packers have been very upfront about it. He wants to 'unretire' because of his love for the game - with all of his endorsements and football $, he sure isn't doing it for the $.
Anyone wanting to see a true sports hero, watch the game he played after his father died. He's got more character and heart for the game than anyone who's every played.
PS - Perez, stick to fashion & music…

      55

Perezzers. This is totally not about the money. The guy just has an itch to play and made the wrong decision to retire earlier in March when he was somewhat pressured into making a decision whether to play or not. My man Vinny Testaverde played until he was what? 44? And he was still doin ok. Same with Warren Moon. Favre took Green Bay to the NFC championship game just last year, don't forget. He's 38. If he stays in good shape, he has another few good seasons left in him.

Perez, you don't know WTF you are talking about. The Packers are making a HUGE mistake by not letting Brett back. He's only got a couple more years left, those rookie qbs can wait. Brett is a legend and worked hard to bring the GB name back since the Lombardi days. I will love Brett no matter where he plays, I am just ticked that he likely will not end his career in GB. Rogers will have a crud year and they will be kicking themselves in the ass for not taking Brett back.

its not at all about the money. brett loves the game. this situation is unfortunate because the packers want to move on. they are actively trying to prevent him from showing up at training camp and making a media mockery of this. if he gets reinstated they will be trading him.

He's obviously not doing this for the money so if you don't know what you're talking about you shouldn't be making comments. He's never been one of those players that is in it for the money or who has tried to renegotiate his contract. The Packer organization has screwed this up so badly its embarrassing. If they don't think he's good enough to be their starting QB or even compete for the job why would they care if he went to the Vikings. They only play them twice during the regular season so at worst they could lose 2 games to them. He deserves respect from them and has earned it.

Green Bay has a population just slightly over 100,000 — if he's huge in the NFL, he's GIANT in the eyes of the "small town" fans that have supported him for so long. As any resident of Green Bay will be able to tell you, he's treated like royalty there. It's fine to retire, it's fine to un-retire, I just think that he could be handling the whole situation with a lot more class than he is. All he needs to do is talk to the people — to tell them why he's doing what he's doing — otherwise it just seems very dramatic and very shady. So sad for someone so talented and respected to be acting in this way. Unfortunately, it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone who has witnessed his yearly "I'm going to retire — wait, no I'm not!" shennanegans.

"Brett Favre Likes Bannanas", "Brett Favre Goes to the Park",. . .I swear nuclear warfare could break out and people in Wisconsin would never even know it because the news stations and papers think it's more important that we know what Brett Favre's favorite color is.

I'm from Minnesota & a Vikings fan……I would LOVE to see Brett come on over to play for us….Imagine him walking onto the field at the Dome in a purple jersey!!! And with Andre Peterson helping him we would finally, possibly, maybe? win a Superbowl…I hope the Packers release him & he comes to MN :)

his peak playing days are behind him?! REALLY?! i love you perez… but stick to the celebrity gossip and not sporting analysis please, cause you clearly have no idea what you are talking about. brett is one of the best to ever play the game, and had one of his best seasons last year. the guy still has it, and could definitely still be successful. don't say things you can't back up perez! BRING BRETT BACK

I love how Perez now reports news a day late. Moron. And you should keep off the topic of sports. The only sport you know is Gay Rodeo.

      Re: bmurr

You're totally right, bmurr. While I dislike people who announce their retirement and immediately make a comeback, Favre was still at the top of his game last season. He probably should have never retired. In fact, Tom Brady, Tony Romo, Peyton Manning, and Brett Favre were the best quarterbacks in the league last season.

Perez, you know nothing about football. Stick to commenting on Cristiano Ronaldo's fake tan and Beckham's Armani ads, you tool.
