If this is something you are interested in, but want to help students near your hometown you can donate through www.donorschoose.org, which serves classrooms nationally. you can search by location or the type of project that interests you. It is a great organization!

Yay! Thanks! I've been donating to Crayons to Computers for years. GREAT organization. And a great way to recycle, too, things that business would usually just toss away. Teachers are creative and can use ANYTHING. Thanks for posting this!!!
This kids looks hispanic… so let me get this straight out, this families come to our country, don't pay any taxes and modify our economy, why should I give them one more penny????
Re: liz – excuse me, but I am entitled to state my opinions and indeed I think it is ignorant oif you ti think this is the type of charity that should be reaching beyond their own community. They are seeking actual items according to their name, so why would they be reaching out besides for cash. We all know that cash charity is nothing but corruption and greed. people end up stealing the money sweetie. Wake up! If you want to help people lift them up, money won't help anybody it is destroying everyone.

This charity lets teachers who already spend a lot of their own money on their classroom supplies, easily $500 year, "shop" for free. We can come in and get either basic school supplies or education games that sadly many underprivelaged schools cannot afford. Don't be so shallow and ignorant! Get a clue!
Re: ken – I don't believe that Crayons to Computers is reaching beyond it's own community. Perez posted this - not the board, not the employees, not the teachers and not the children that benefit from Crayons to Computers. Seek beyond your own community and learn to live with others - if not this charity, find one in your own community to donate to - money or otherwise. Quit hiding behind your monitor.
Ken - you need to chill the hell out. I'm actually one of the teachers that benefits from this charity. I have volunteered in their warehouse and seen their operation. They need money to keep the place going day-to-day (to help pay a few full-time employees), but they are a NON-PROFIT organization. Even small children know that if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

this is a great cause and for all the people who don't know what it is shouldn't comment. They are helping the teacher out who often put their own money out on school supplies because the schooling system doesn't have enough money in a lot of poor areas. If you don't want to give anything then don't but don't try to put lies out there that will stop others from doing good for teachers who work hard with little help.

(Webster's II New College Dictionary) so, assholes, just who is DEPRIVING these kids?? their dumb fuck parents?? what advantages?? being born to parents that give a shit?? just how is this my fault?? and, how is getting lil jose some crayons going to change that?? fuck all of you that think we need to give these fucks money. all that means is that NEXT YEAR they are going to be expecting you asshole dumb fucks to ante up again. as long as the train keeps running, these fucks will be in line for it. stupid fuckiing assholes.
