Earlier in the week, Amy Winehouse's dad claimed that Wino was hospitalized this Monday because someone drugged her.
Uh huh.
Wino's mom, Janis, is spouting off a nonsensical explanation too. Well, nonsensical for Crackhouse.
Momma Wino says the hospital visit was simply a matter of human error.
"The truth is that Amy ended up in hospital this week because she mixed up the medication she's taking to help her come off drugs," she says. "She took a wrong tablet."
She went on to say that Ames' recent diagnosis with lung disease has encouraged her to steer clear of recreational drugs.
Say what????
"I really don't think she's using now," claims Janis. "Being diagnosed with the early stage of emphysema was a real jolt to her. A bit of a wake-up call."
Why is it so hard for some parents to accept the ugly truth about their kids?

It's difficult for parents to accept when their child is not the same person they were when they were growing up. Drugs change everything about you, all your neurological paths. It becomes all you can think about. It's difficult for a non-user to understand. Especially if a parent wants nothing more that for their child to get better. They just want to believe they are telling the truth… so sad….

Yeah, except these parents have not exactly been the classic enablers. How many enabling parents take out full-page ads begging their daughter to get help? I'm inclined to believe what they say; they want her to get better as much as anyone. You do not have to have medication to come off drugs. The only time you need medication is if you are quiting a heavy alcohol habit. You can't force or "talk an addict into" quiting. They'll only do it if it is something they really want to do. I personally don't think Amy does, but hopefully one day she will see the light.

But treatment and rehab based on actual science and empirically supported psychological techniques can be very beneficial. I'm so sorry you had the experience you did. Just because many of the members are religous (which actually just mirrors society on a whole) does not make it a religous program. In fact it is clearly stated in the principles that it is a spiritual not religous program. The choice of a higher power is personal. For some it is "God" for me it is the Universe, science the laws of physics etc…
