Riddle Me Depp?

As we mentioned earlier this month, reports state that the next Batman movie will feature the Riddler as the main villain.
Jim Carrey did a good job playing the last Riddler in 1995. So, who would likely take his place?
Well, some reports claim that Johnny Depp is being offered the role.
And with the success The Dark Knight has has had at the box office, making over $440 million worldwide, the producers don't think they'll have a problem convincing Depp to take the role.
A source says the producers "are convinced that the role of the Riddler is perfect for Depp. Johnny's a pro. He'll be able to take direction from director Chris Nolan and still make the character his own."
They also plan on revisiting another one of Batman's enemies, the Penguin. And according to insiders, they are hoping the role goes to Oscar winner Philip Seymour Hoffman.
Depp and Hoffman?
Two excellent choices, we think.

i think Depp is an incredible actor.. I think he would be great as the riddler. Depp really knows how to portray his characters.

Excellent choices. I can only hope the producers will consider having Batman tackle one nemisis at a time. Two films. One with the Riddler. The other featuring the Penguin.
I can't thank Chris Nolan enough for bringing the Batman story back from the ashes created by Tim Burton's rendition of the same story.

Not Philip Seymour Hoffman again!!! I do think he's brilliant BUT he is so the "instant indie cred" go-to actor. I think PAUL GIAMATTI is beyond perfect for the Penguin role!!!

The riddler was my fav so i'd like to see Depp do him, but the penguin is TOTALLY danny devito's char. Can't see anyone else topping the performance.

Great choices, but I think that if they appear in the same movie, they could detract from each other's performance and the movie as a whole.

They need to be careful to not overcrowd the movie with too many villains. Latinoreview.com is floating a rumor regarding Angelina Jolie playing Catwoman.

I really hope depp and hoffman are cast, both are so easy to imagine as riddler and penguin. Depp will easily beat carrey's riddler. Hoffman will undoubtedly match devito's penguin, but I honestly doubt anyone more embodies penguin than danny devito.
I would not go see Dark Knight because i think heath's death was so exploited in the marketing tv commercials But I couldn't pass up a chance to see Depp in the next one!

I think they are excellent choices. They bring characters up a notch - no offense to Devito and Carey - it's just a higher level of acting and credibility.
If anyone can do it Johnny Depp can. Plus, he's totally yummy.

Johnny Depp is a fantastic actor, no doubt about it. I think he might make a great Riddler. But I don't think they should use the Riddler, maybe another villain. Jim Carrey was amaing as the riddler.
i think both would be great as long as the characters are dark and twisted, unlike the first riddler.
The Dark Knight was AMAZING. And whoever does the next villian has a TOUGH, TOUGH, TOUGH act to follow. Heath Ledger was sooooo good, you wanted to love him, but you had to hate him. Johnny Depp and Phillip Seymour are PROS and take acting seriously. I would LOVE to see it.
