Lighten up. The law for years is that you have no privacy interest when you cross the border into the United States, even if you are a citizen. That's how Customs searches your bags at the airport or your car at the border crossing. In its ruling. the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, the nations most liberal, simply extended the existing rationale to laptops. Probably it also extends to cellphones. This will be appealed to the United States Supreme Court where you can expect a 5-4 ruling one way or the other. Be outraged all you want, but the only way to get this ruling changed is to have Congress forbid it, a highly unlikely event. And it isn't going to happen to every laptop and cellphone because there isn't enough manpower in Homeland Security to go through every laptop with a fine-tooth comb.
