Looks like you'll be getting less cheese for your cheese at Mickey D's.
McDonald's is weighing whether to yank the popular double cheeseburger from its Dollar Menu because of the high cost of cheese.

Some franchises are reportedly selling the double-cheeseburger with one slice of cheese instead of two and calling it a "double hamburger with cheese."
Blasphemy!!!!!
Other franchises have replaced the double cheeseburger on the Dollar Menu with a double hamburger or have raised the price up to $1.10.
If you can't spring the extra few cents, just bring the burger home and put your own cheese on the burger!
McDonald's may also expand its mid-range menu - with food selling for $1.30 to $2 - to keep budget-conscious customers from abandoning the joint altogether.
"We know customers are facing tough times in this economy," said head honcho Don Thompson.

you can't get a double cheeseburger in new york for a dollar, it costs at least 1.35 i think maybe even more. california has more competition with carls jr. and in and out and better places than mickey d's. but in new york we've been screwed out of the double for years.

Some, not all, of this economy talk is just a way for companies to raise their prices blaming it on higher food costs. It is bullshit, they want more profit in their pockets. I think McDonalds is a bunch of assholes. They won't even let you substitute ketch and must with mayo for free, so you have to ask for a mayo packet which is free, bullshit. Their Big Mac is almost the same as a double except 1 slice of cheese, stupid sauce, lettuce, 2 pickles, middle flat piece of bread, and seeds, yawn, but costs 1.5x as much. Sorry no one wants a double hamburger, then they will charge 20 to 30 cents a slice to add cheese, fuck that. Reducing it down to 1 slice, that sucks too. I could maybe handle a 10 cent increase, but if you are gonna raise it up every 6 months that's bs. The double cheeseburger being cheap is the ONLY reason I still even go there. They better think twice before they fuck with the last people still willing to eat their shit!

we've still got it here in Arkansas, plus the McChicken, sausage mcmuffin, large sweet tea, 2 hash browns, medium fry and the parfait thing. I like the parfaits and the side salads are still a dollar but they don't have tomoatoes, only lettuce and carrots

I do not eat McDonalds food but I love their Iced Coffee and Iced tea for that matter. I get an iced coffee there most mornings. Just last week I noticed a fancy new sign. It had all the extra charges for SAUCE on it. If you get a six piece chicken, you get 1 sauce..anymore sauce it like 25 cents..it goes on from there.

In England a Mcdonalds double cheeseburger costs about £1.19 which is approx $2.50 according to current exchange rate. When you guys talk about your dollar menu we also have a 99p menu which is like you guys paying $2.00 for a mcflurry, medium fries, medium drink, sundae etc….You can't really complain about the prices!!!
