Harry Potter is Out, Twilight is In

J.K. Rowling can pass the torch over to Stephenie Meyer now.
Meyer's Breaking Dawn, the fourth book in her Twilight series sold 1.3 million copies on its first day of release, August 2nd.
For those of you bad with math, that's A LOT of books!
This past Friday night, thousands of bookstores and libraries hosted midnight parties across the country to help fuel these astounding figures.
We mentioned previously that due to the overwhelming demand for the title, the publisher went back for a second printing of 500,000 copies prior to publication, to the current in-print figure of 3.7 million copies.
The publisher has also confirmed the upcoming publication of The Twilight Saga: The Official Guide.
It will be available on December 30th.
The hardcover book will be the only official guide to the series and will provide readers with everything they need to further explore the world Meyer created in the Twilight Saga.
Said book will contain exclusive new material, character profiles, genealogical charts, maps, extensive cross-references and so much more!
We heart anything vampires!
Can't wait to see the Twilight movie later this year!

ummm……okay.
hmm never heard of it
HARRY POTTER RULESS!!!
i used to like twilight until breaking dawn… =S
** came out..
GAH the actor that plays edward is SO perfect too… love it.
meh.
glad u changed the picture though
She should hold off on that new twilight book. Look at the amazon reviews - a lot of people are returning their copy of Breaking Dawn.
And to say she is the new JK? nooo, SM sold 1.3 million copies during the first 24 hours - JK sold 8.3 million in the US alone! No where near a comparison.
JK is such a better writer, she lets her characters develop and isnt afraid to sacrifice some for the storyline.
awesome!! i love twilight, can't wait for the movie.
Yay! I heart anything vampires too! I will have to check out this series.
I don't understand why I didn't even here about these books until a few weeks ago. Are they good? Or just popular?
I can't wait to see it!!!
what's so special about Twilight?
Vampires!???
What do they do that we haven't seen already!
Anne Rice's vampires are the BEST!
BTW - I am looking forward to seeing The Half Blood Prince!!!
I love love Twilight. I read the new book Breaking Dawn twice and I loved it as well. Some people don't like it as much but I did. I thought it was great and the story had to change a lot to be interesting and go somewhere exciting and new. I love Robert Pattinson. I can't wait for the movie. I went to a midnight release party at Borders to get mine and I am 28.
Dang.
I wanted to be first!
AH!
I loved Breaking Dawn.
Except for the fact I had to wait awhile to get the freaking book at 12:00.
Yeah.
I'm a dork.
:)
Interesting, I hope he's a very good writer.
I thought the book was ok, it was no big deal. I don't wanna see the movie. It will probably suck.
At least she didn't seu some dorky librarian superfan before putting it out
hmm. maybe i'll check it out.
Lovely
He is so damn CUTE!!
what twilight nothing can beat harry potter sorry perez ur wrong
I really want to read the twilight sage - but unlike the Harry Potter, i didn't start reading it when i was in my teens so i feel kinnda weird buying it, knowing i aint exactly the key demographic….. Amazon i think!! XD
Too bad Breaking Dawn sucked, so I hear, and the series will fall tremendously in popularity
The story is a lot different than an Anne Rice. No fangs. No fear of crosses. They can go in sunlight but they sparkle. The ultimate lure to humans. Super beauty. Smell good. Did I mention sparkly? It is a love story between a human teenage girl and a 100 year old teen vampire. It is awesome. I liked breaking dawn a lot. It is generally the under 16 crowd that hates the new book. MOst of the older fans and Twilight Moms love the book Breaking Dawn.
love twilight:):)
cant wait ’till the movie comes out!!!
the guy who plays jacob is a total cutieee:)
Re: cupcake26 –
What the heck are you TALKING about?
Get your head out of your ass.
People are loving it.
They're just sad it's over.
Go to Barnes and noble dot com.
It has four and a half stars loser with 1670 reviews.
holy fuck i love the twilight series
CAN'T FRIGGIN WAIT FOR THE MOVIE!!!!!! If you go to YouTube, they have an extended version of the Ballet Scene and it looks awesome! It's really dark, and that's what makes these books so great! Breaking Dawn wasn't exactly what I expected, but I LOVED it! CAN'T FRIGGIN WAIT TILL 12.12.08!!!!! I hope the movie does great, they deserve it!
jk rowling rocks…!!!
i hate when people say that stephenie meyer is the new jk rowling … =(
because she isnt!!
Breaking Dawn kind of sucks, anyone who is considering I would suggest not reading it. It was awful.
If I wasn't on perez all day, I could write a deep dark book and everyone would be very afraid.
i love seeing twilight on perez. it totally makes my day
You can be any age to read the books. There is this phenomenon of older readers of the Twilight Series. There is a whole website dedicated to twilight moms and tons of my friends have read the books and we are all mostly in our early thirties or late twenties. They are not Dickens or anything but they fun to read. Just great poolside reading. I highly recommend them especially if you are older because all the younger people seem to hate the last book. Older people love it.
i say the book for this and was wondering if it was any good
Already the comments are looking better - way to go!
Excuse me, but Stephanie Meyer has nothing on J.K. Rowling. I've read Twilight and found it absolutely disgusting; the writing is mediocre and all everyone is really obsessed about is Edward fucking Cullen, the fancy schmancy "I talk like an 18th century boy and I drink animal blood" vampire.
Harry Potter, at least, as a bit more substance and depth and isn't so focused in one damned angsty teenager and a vampire.
Vampires are overrated, anyway.
Anne Rice was better, and even then, I hate Anne Rice.
Harry potter was totally better. JK rowling is a much better writer. I enjoyed the twilight series but, the last book was way as not entertaining and the ending was not as suspenseful. Her writing is also not as in depth as JK rowling's. The twilight movie looks like it does not do the books justice.
I LOVE TWILIGHT! as if my name doesn't explain that haha but i disagree about harry potter being out, i am a fan of both and love them equally and twilight i think is becoming big because a lot of people are trying to fill their harry potter void. I am SUPER excited for the movie though, the last book was a bit of a disappointment in my eyes, but definitely really good! i just expected so much more and i really didn't expect what was going to happen. Still a good series though.
Re: Jessie – STFU shes (cupcake.. whatever) right!
Breaking Dawn was terrible…then again everything after Twilight was terrible. Nice to see Meyer hasn't jumped on the commercial bandwagon. I mean an official guide?! wtf?! like the books aren't guide enough.
Everyone needs to stfu. If you don't like the books, and I can see that most of you haven't even read any of them, then shut up. Go stick with the HP posts. Twilight is fantastic. And most of the fandom liked Breaking Dawn. It was the thirteen year olds who hated it, and none of us care what they think. The best part of all of this… FIVE movies of Robert Pattinson playing Edward Cullen. You know you will all be watching. Don't even lie.
I think it was because the last book had so much "adult" stuff in it, and people freaked out about it. I'm 23, and I loved the entire series! And whoever says that they didn't like the books because of all the sexual tension between Edward and Bella is LYING! That's what makes them soooooo great!!!
I recently just read this book, it was not what I really expected. I felt that Twilight, the first book in this series, is authentic, and the author just hasn't been able to have the same impact on me as she did the first time around. However, it wasn't dreadfully horrible….it was just kind of …boring. Bella gets everything that she wants in the end…and I think that life really doesn't work that way…but ehh, its fiction right?
Re: lalapisani – I agree, cupcake is right.
BLASPHEMY, I TELL YOU!
Twilight is Harry Potter for shallow teen girls. I can't see anyone over 16 finding them good or worthwhile, and apparently the last book was a true poop fest. Meyer is an immature writer who is about 1/394893th of what J.K. Rowling is. Sorry I'm getting so heated, but I hate watching bad literature become so popular! I read the books for a laugh because they're so cliche and childish, but they're not to be taken seriously….seriously. :]
I work for Barnes and Noble…the fans of these books are nutz….
Anyone else noticed Ashley Greene (Alice, in the upcoming film) on the right hand side? She's advertising 'Stop Staring!' clothing, love that girl
i've never even read twilight, but one of the guys (cam, i think his name is) works at the waterworld show in universal studios, hollywood. c: without a shirt, might i add. BY YOUR SEASON PASSES NOW!
I LOVE these books!
He didn't say that Harry Potter was better. He's just saying that HP is over and that Twilight is the next big thing. I am so sick of watching HP people cry and kick their feet every time someone mentions HP and Twilight in the same sentence. Get over it! Grow up.
Loooooooooooove the "Twilight" series.
Perez! Yes, TWILIGHT! It's great. Breaking Dawn was great, also. You need to get your filthy hands on a copy of Twilight before you see the movie.
AND YES, the Amazon reviews for the new book are HORRIBLE! My friend who has always loved the Twilight saga (no idea why) friggin' hated the book. Most people are recommending that you don't read it and that you consider 'Eclipse' the last book of the Twilight series.
J.K. would never write anything close to the abomination that was 'Breaking Dawn'. And this is gonna sound mean, but the whole 'Twilight Moms' thing…they're just desperate to have something to talk about with their teen daughters. *shrug*
