Costume designs for Madonna's Sticky and Sweet tour have hit the Web!
Madge has teamed up again with designer/stylist Arianne Phillips. The two have worked together for about 11 years.
Phillips told Women's Wear Daily that this new tour has posed an interesting challenge.
She says, “Normally we prep in April and May, and open in June. This time, the tour begins in August. It’s a nightmare. Everyone in Italy and France is on a beach sunning themselves.”
Phillips also revealed, "Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci designed two outfits and Tom Ford provided bespoke suits for the band. Three pairs of shoes have been custom-made by Miu Miu, there are thigh-high boots courtesy of Stella McCartney, sunglasses from Moschino, and other outfits and odds and ends from Yves Saint Laurent, Roberto Cavalli, and Jeremy Scott."
Couture-iffic!
Also, as in the past, this tour will be divided into four sections.
The first references gangsta pimp and Art Deco with Givenchy costumes. The dominatrix look will be featured prominently:
“It’s a theme that runs throughout her career. She’s not afraid of being hard," said the costume designer.
The second section has been termed “Old School” and looks back at Madge's early days in New York. This section will feature some vintage prints from Keith Haring, the late graffiti artist and friend of Madonna who died of AIDS in 1990. Phillips said, “He and Madonna were friends. If he were alive, it would be his 50th birthday as well. So I thought, ‘What if we revisited that?’"
The third party will be gypsy-influenced and the final section will feature a futuristic rave look with lots of Japanese influences.
Phillips also went on to say that getting older has had little effect on Madge's sense of fashion adventure, “She always wants to push the envelope. There are no vanity considerations based on her age…She looks good in everything.”

Madonna needs to start acting her age…..the costumes are beautiful I'm sure, but she is looking older and she needs to reinvent her style. Not to say she should look like a grandma but a bit more age appropriate. I really can't even take her anymore!
Love the 2nd and 3rd picture, not so keen on the first one though. With the way she's been looking lately, i'd rather not see THAT much of her…..

As much as I love Madonna… I do agree with Charlie. It's like watching an older version of my mother parading around in outfits a 16-year old would be embarrassed to wear.
Musically, she's still amazing. In the looks department, however, she is waning.

She has been really striking out, fashion-wise, for 10 to 15 years now. Earlier in her career it was so fun to copy her fashion. Now everything looks contrived and costume-like, not anything anyone on the street would be influenced by at all. Leotards?? Matronly button-up dresses? Where's our old Madonna?? Ugh, and she's such a poster child for NOT having cheek implants.

You always seem to hate on Mariah. You said yesterday that she is too old to wear what she wears, yet today you had a post of some of Madonna's costumes for her upcoming tour. She is over 50 and some of those costumes look like they are way too revealing for a woman over 50. Also you seem to talk about Mariah lip synching a lot, yet Madonna and Kylie Minogue lip synch all the freakin time and you do nothing but praise their performances. Also Mariah has more number one singles than any other woman recording artist, tied with Elvis and right behind The Beatles. She wrote/co wrote all of those songs along with most songs that are on each and every album she releases. Can you say that about Madonna or Kylie? NO! Mariah's last two albums have also outsold Madonna's and Kylies by quite large numbers. Mariah is one of the most talented singer/songwriters of our generation and you do nothing but hate on her . How sad and blind you are

the reason perez doesn't bash madonna's choice of revealing clothes for her tour and does it to mariah all the time is because madonna has reason to dress like that. it's apart of the theme for her new tour and cd. you don't see her dresses skanky outside of her work tactics. she's known to wear track suits very often. as for mariah, she really has no theme to her albums, and wears the revealing clothes very often and outside of work. i'm not hating on either women, i'm just telling you why perez does what he does.

I read the tell-all book her brother wrote about Madge. It was juicy, juicy, juicy. It was nice to get a glimpse of her world and it just confirmed to me that some people, no matter how much money they make, are greedy greedy greedy!
