Original Shakespeare Theatre Found!

What a find!
Archaeologists for the Museum of London announced on Wednesday that they've found the remains of the theatre where Shakespeare's early plays were first performed.
The museum found the theatre remains in the trendy Shoreditch area of London.
The source explains that Shakespeare appeared at The Theatre in Shoreditch, east London, as an actor with a troupe called The Lord Chamberlain's Men, which also performed his efforts as a playwright there.
Some of the early Shakespeare plays performed by the troupe in Shoreditch include Romeo and Juliet and A Midsummer Night's Dream.
After a tenancy dispute in 1599, the owners of The Theatre dismantled it during the night and its timbers were used to construct the Globe Theatre by the River Thames which became the home of Shakespeare's plays.
Ironically, the discovery was made on a site being prepared for the construction of a new theatre.
The theater gods are smiling upon us!
"It's a theatre that's been known about for a long time but no remains have ever been found. This is the theatre that the company of players that Shakespeare was part of first performed in and when he started writing, the company would have performed his plays," said a museum spokesman.
The remains will reportedly be kept in place as the new theatre is built.
Looks like there'll be another thing for tourists in London to see!

Now this is interesting.
Real news.
Screw Azis.
My first college play was a Shakespeare play. Much Ado About Nothing.
Whoa, that's great! Excited to go there, now.
SWEET! This is the best news that has ever been posted at perezhilton.com. Can't wait to check it out someday, it makes me want to break out some good Shakespeare tonight. I hope kids today can appreciate the timeless art and wisdom of such a period. Awesome! Awesome! Awesome!
Re: Charlotte – erm..yes… its a shame that he died a few hundred years ago. don't they teach you anything in school nowaqdays?

Re: Charlotte –
HAHAHAHA OMG…HAHA. you're kidding, right? right? I pray to god you're under the age of 10.
and that's so exciting and cool they found that stuff! history rocks.
weird. you'd think that they would have already found all of that by now… guess not
I'm sure Billy Shakes would be fraught with joy!
Shakespeare is, indeed, the man.
SOOO NEAT! i studied shakespeare in high school and still am in college. my twelfth grade AP english teacher was obsessed with him, so we learned all about the history! it paid off though, because when we went to London and Scotland she took me to Middle Inner Temple, the site where Shakespeare himself performed in Twelfth Night for Queen Elizabeth 1, my favorite monarch. It was the most amazing experience ever. ROCK ON!
Methinks that is grand news!
BOLLOCKS
How wonderful!
Re: Charlotte – Your joking, right???
"theater gods " ROFLMAO!
meaningless!
wow, as a history nerd and total geek this is (tragically) one of the most exciting things Perez has shared (although I love the dirt too!) Fans should def read "Players" by Bert Fields (yes, Tom Cruise's attorney). I attended a lecture he did w/ actors from Shakespeare theatre and it was amazing. He gave a very compelling case for who the "real" Shakespeare was although I don't think that controversy will ever die. Good stuff….thanks for sharing PH!
