"The National Indian Child Welfare Association (NICWA) is a national voice for American Indian children and families. We are the most comprehensive source of information on American Indian child welfare and the only national American Indian organization focused specifically on the tribal capacity to prevent child abuse and neglect.
NICWA is a private, non-profit, membership organization based in Portland, Oregon. Our members include tribes, individuals—both Indian and non-Indian—and private organizations from around the United States concerned with American Indian child and family issues. Our board of directors is made up of 26 American Indians, and we have a staff of 24, most of whom are American Indians. Together, our partners, board, and staff work to protect the most vital resource of American Indian people—our children."

The kids in the pic don't look at all like American Indians, they totally look like mexicans and i am not giving mexicans one more penny!
The kids in the picture actually DO look like American Indians. A: Indians don't all look the same. B: The are not all JUST brown. Lakota's range from fair complected to dark. C: NICWA does a lot of good for kids on the reservation.
Thank you Perez for posting this, to bring attention to a population of children who do not get much media. And yes they look like American Indians, beautiful.
Thanks for posting this and giving attention to the original people of North America. Usually when I see "Indian" it's referring to people from India. And by the way, Natives come in all different colors. In my family alone, there are brown, white, black. This is coming from a proud Saulteaux from Saskatchewan!!!

I'm sorry, but I can't believe that "Native Americans" still get referred to as "Indians"! D*mn Christopher Columbus! Indians are people from India, not Native Americans! When will this ever be corrected?? I am Indian from India, and I can't satnd that when I tell people that I'm Indian, they think that I mean Native American! =-O Anyhoo, I am done venting now…
Thank you for putting this link up, Perez. It's a wonderful organization that is helping my people all across North America.
