An insightful man once said, it's all about the benjamins, baby.
Looks like that holds true for Gossip Girl's Chace Crawford.
He's dumped his agents at ICM and jumped over to rivals CAA.
Why the move????
Insiders say Chace is hoping to get more cash from the Gossip Girl network, the CW.
Even with the big, bad CAA behind him, Chace may find that he won't get what he wants, say Hollywood experts.
GG is an ensemble show. If he gets a raise, everyone will want one too!
AND, though the show is much hyped, the ratings for Gossip Girl aren't good enough to be giving out raises to everyone.
Is the pretty boy shooting himself in the foot?
Could he see himself written out of the show instead?????

Not surprising, seeing as how ICM is a dying agency that is less and less able to move its clients out otf their existing roles. I'm sure that Chace looked at Zac Efron, for whom CAA was able to package two movie feature projects, and decided to jump before his fifteen minutes are over.

I personally think that Chace is quite a bit better looking than the gayfaced, bodd-by-steroids Efron, but if CAA has the clout to put even closeted juiceboys into high-visibility situations, then they might be able to break Chace out the GossipGirl rut. Time wil tell….

gossip girl is based on a series of books its not some soap where you can just 'write people out', he may find himself replaced though….

But no one on that show is a standout - yet - Ed Westwick is moving forward in the JR Ewing/Alexis Carrington role, but c'mon, Chace, give yourself 2 years. Farrah shot herself in the ass that 1st year believing her own press. But Perez, if he gets canned, you can marry him, kep him, and make him bottom for you nightly (although much won't get done with 2 bottoms in the house!!!)

The thing is, agencies are supposed to provide their clients with work. So far, ICM did a good job landing Chace a role on Gossip Girl (not a hit in the ratings, but a smash with the teen crowd and a good way to get some facetime), but what have they done for him aside from that?
Can't blame him for switching to CAA. The grass is always greener on the other side, I hope for Chace that this works out for him.
He's a pretty boy but he's nothing special. He not that good of an actor, and there are tones of pretty boys walking around, they're just not on tv. Other than being pretty, he just doesn't have that it factor. Zac Efron has the It Factor more than Chase.
