Turns out Madonna's documentary, I Am Because We Are, has made a big impact.
In fact, it's going to be turned into a picture book!
The book is being described as a companion volume to the documentary film, written and produced by her Madgesty about the plight of orphans in Malawi, the country where she adopted son David.
The photographs will be supplied by Kristen Ashburn and the foreword will be written by Madonna.
A just released statement describes it as a "book of images by award-winning photojournalist Kristen Ashburn–culled from her own work in Malawi and Africa over the past seven years as well as from her specially commissioned photographs for the film–provides an intimate look at the lives of eight Malawian children featured in the film and reveals the harsh reality of the AIDS pandemic throughout southern Africa."
The book will also feature excerpts from interviews with Malawian children along with their biographies.
The author proceeds from the sale of the books will be donated to the Raising Malawi organization, to continue to help their orphans.

Thi8s explains why Madonna didnt' help promote Annie Lennox' 'Sing' campaign. Madonna sang a whole verse alone (not asked to) instead of singning in the chorus like every other one (Celine Dion, Pink, Gladys Knight etc) but vanished immediately after the song was released. And now this.
Angeline Jolie adopyed babies from other countries. Then Madonna adopts one (who is rarely seen with her, unlike Lourdes who looks exactly like her).
Madonna is not a trend setter, nor is she at all original. She is a trend STEALER. She stole from Marlene Dietrich, Mae West (who had a play called 'Sex' in 1926 when it was REALLY risque and controversial!), Cyndi Lauper (in 1983, 84 and 85), Bettie Page (costumes in Blonde Ambition Tour), adopted baby from third world country (Angeline Jolie) and this latest transparent project, idea taken directly from Annie Lennox's very real and successful intentions. My God….will she stop at nothing? And she has all these femme teenage boys thinking she is "oh-so-original." Do some research, bitches.
Ok…this is disgusting. First, Madonna steals from Cyndi Lauper (1983, 84 and 85). Then Bettie Page (costumes in Blonde Ambition tour), then Marlene Dietrich (brows, bisexuality, attempt at androgyny), then Mae West (via the 'Sex' book, when Mae West created a play in 1926 titles 'Sex' when such a title was REALLY risque and controversial!) Angeline Jolie (HAD to adopt a baby from a Third World Country) and now….Annie Lennox, who launched the extraordinary 'Sing' campaign. Madonna "sang" on the track ' Sing' an entire verse, instead of the chorus like everyone else who was asked to participate (Celine Dion, Pink, Gladys Knight, The Sugar Babes and about 20 more) and was not asked to sing a whole verse. But being an attention whore, she did it anyway, and sent it back to Lennox via mail. Unlike the other singers on the 'Sing' track, Madonna did not make a small promotional video showing support for the project (AIDS in Africa). Now we see why. She saw an idea for publicity and ran with it.
I am amazed that Madonna has managed to make a whole generation or two of femme boys actually believe she is a "trend setter" when she is ANYthing but original. She stole everything, added her vagina to it…and it SOLD! Not very admirable at all. At ALL. She is a fraud and a thief and everyone fell for it. Lucky broad, she is.

Leave Madonna alone! She's contributing to something positive in this world; what are you doing?
If you don't like her, you can at least respect that she IS an icon. A FEW examples of her many contributions to pop culture are:
She had the first music video to incorporate both black and white sequences and color.
She had the first music video to incorporate a story.
She released the first ever music video single.
She created Maverick, a record label with top selling artists.
She pushed the envelope and got people to think. A lot of the music you listen to or music videos you see may not have so easily aired if Madonna hadn't stuck to her guns and released what SHE wanted to and not what someone else told her to do.
She came to New York with 30 bucks on her, often only eating popcorn as her only food source, and now she's worth MILLIONS. Not only did that take hard work and effort, but also showed how she is a brilliant businessperson. She's a woman with power, and she's been an inspiration to a lot of women out there that despite society wishing a woman with power would disappear that one should hold her own and go forward anyway.
As to why she is such a gay icon is because she's never apologized for who she is. She stands tall and stands proud and despite what others say, she maintains who she is. That gives a lot of strength to people who are constantly told to be someone or something else.
She's never been afraid to be surrounded by gays or embraced as such an icon. She believes in equal rights for all people, no matter who you love, and knows that who you love ultimately doesn't define who you are; that we are ALL people.
She may have her faults, but so do we all.
If you have a problem with Perez loving her, or others loving her, then don't come to this site then because chances are one is going to read a lot of positive press about this woman!

1 in 5 in Malawi is infected with HIV. It is a country full of children raising themselves. I lived in the villages with the people….you all are so unaware of what is going on in the world, and Madonna is using her "celebrity" to make YOU aware of your surroundings. Her adoption was major dedication because in Malawi you must live in the country for 2 years before you can even be considered to adopt from there. If you only knew the struggle and poverty. I went and taught in the schools for 7 weeks, and taught over 500 children. What have you done this year? Drove your hummer? Went to the tanning bed? PLEASE!
I think she looks resplendent in Dior and for 50 it's amazing.
I think people should get over their own issues because here is a woman who for all her faults is trying to change lives of many for the better, give them hope, support and love and I doubt there are many of us who do that on a daily basis or if ever…
