On The Hunt for Boys

The Mouse wants little boys!
Apparently, the Disney Channel skews heavily female, so a new channel will be launched to lure the boys back from rival channels Nickelodeon and the Cartoon Network.
Starting in February, Disney XD will offer original action-adventure and comedy series, movies, animation and sports-themed shows developed with ESPN for 6-14 year old boys.
We'll see if it works!

I agree, Disney does seem to go towards that girl sides of things. But girls are the hype-y ones so theres a good reason.

The Disney formula is to pick child actors and actresses that test as very friendly and non-scary towards the kids who are watching - Disney's internal research shows that what appeals to the kids and tweens is being able to see the actors as their friends - the kids watching at home know nothing about singing talent or acting ability (or the lack of same).

For Disney, the problem comes when these kid actors grow up and display their true colors - Efron's homosexuality, Hudgens' wanton sluttiness, LaBeouf's chemical dependency, Spears' sexual voracity and wildness, and on and on and on…..

The 9yo boy in my life wants nothing to do with anything but Pokemon, Super Mario Brothers, Legos, Star Wars and absurd cartoons like Spongebob and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.
