If you thought airfare was high now, you're gonna be in for a shock!
Price are expected to soar in the next 4 months. By A LOT.
In response to higher fuel prices and a sluggish economy, airlines across the world are going to reduce flights/availability before the Christmas travel season by 60 million seats!
That's a reduction equivalent of one in every 14 current seats.
So, not only will prices be higher in the very near future, availability will be more limited. Less choices for you!
Sucks big time.

Tell me about it! I just spend over $800 for 2 tickets to Orlando from NYC on Jet Blu. And then I went back on the Jet Blue site and they added a lower price flight, but it was too late for me to change. The air prices are too much, back to the 70s prices. This is ridiculous. After this flight, I won't be flying at all!
Flying used to be fun, now it sucks big time.

That does suck. My family is on the east coast and I'm on the west. Right now I'm looking at $500 r/t for the holidays. That's ridiculous considering I could usually do that flight for $220.

OMG! I was just looking at tickets to go to Vegas. Last year it was only like $175 on Southwest for 2 of us to go and now it's almost doubled! GRRRRR! I love flying and it's too expensive to drive….plus time consuming! This all sucks! If they want to boost the economy, lower the prices on everything for like 2 months and let people get a handle on things.
I hope this doesn't affect those who already have tickets. If I get an email that says my flight was canceled I will be PISSSSSED

Nice. This whole air fare thing AND gas situation is a complete SHIT SHOW!!!! Unfortunately, it's blatantly obvious that it's only going to get worse — a lot worse — before it gets any better. So much for spending the holidays w/the fam. I guess we all know who we can thank for this little gem!!
good! it's about fucking time that WE are forced to cut back on polluting the earth. now, if you could just FORCE me to shut my fucking computer off once in a while, that'd help too!
p.s. it's gonna suck for those who live in communities that are fly-in only. things were already expensive in those places long before the gas hikes.

Since the crunch The Airlines seem to have skimped on the maintenance, this will get worse and with many older planes flying I'll stay home… let the rich Republicans be onboard when the planes go down then you'll see things change overnight. NeXt

Flights are ALWAYS reduced after the summer. It has always happened that way, the summer months are slammed with travelers so the airlines increase their flights. when summer is over less people travel so flights are reduced. This is nothing new, but the media, including Perez, is making a big deal of it. This has always occurred. It is not new. Don't panic. If you want to fly, you just gots to have the dollar bills, ya'll. The cost of flying is going up and the airlines are soaking you for any extra's, which sucks. but the deal with flights being reduced is just the same old thing that has always gone on.
Ah come on, don't be a bunch of whining bratts. This is a GOOD thing, it's about time we reduce number of flights, we reallly need to cut down on our carbone dioxide emissions asap and this is a very efficient way to do it. Or would you rather have all sea coasts of the world under water due to global warning? This is already starting to happen in many places across the globe. So WAKE UP!! Most trips across America could easily be done by train, how dare you think your "right" to convenient and cheap transportation is worth fucking up the climate for??
