I've seen the original series of Kath & Kim in Australia, and I don't care for it at all…so no, I'm not looking forward to this series. The Aussie's have a different type of humor when it comes to TV/movies, and it's not the same here in the US. But I hope it does well anyways!
Another American rip-off show from another country…the Australian version was good, hopefully this one won't suck.

The preview was profoundly bad. I can't believe they put Selma Blair in this. So wrong. I think it speaks volumes that Magda Szubanski refused to allow them to include Sharon in the US version.

and i LOVE the original kath and kim, but im not sure it will work here. the point of the show is 1. they are a hot mess (which selma and molly arent) and 2. its all about the aus. accents and humor. maybe it will work though. ill definitely be watching.

Fuck the brits and their stupid terms. I love the original Kath & Kim, so I hope this version is good as well. I think the American version of The Office is WAY better than the brit version, but that's because other than Graham Norton and Ab Fab, the brits wouldn't know funny if it shat on their bollocks!!

no, they have totally fucked an aussie classic, the company who bought it in the US changed it because americans could not understand Aussie humor, but if they liked the original why change it, the whole idea of Kath & Kim is to take the piss out (make fun) of us Aussies.
Seeing the promos for the american version it is nothing like the original, no way, the americans have butchered a classic.
I will not be watching it.

It's not that Americans don't understand Ozzie humor. Rather, Kath & Kim just had so much that was inherent to Australian culture that parts will not translate well. The O-V-A-H joke not only was about Kim's stupidity, but also involved how Australians speak and spell (the latter consciously, e.g. Supa IGA, Bakpakka, Off Ya Tree). That was the brilliance of it. O-V-U-R just came off as a reach. It lacks the cultural context that made the original so brilliant.

i've seen previews of this and it seems heaps different to our aussie style of humour but that doesn't mean itwon't work. i'm choosing to look at it as a different show all together with no relationship to the australian version.

i think you might find that the australian version will be millions of times better. i have all of the seasons on dvd… it's fucking hilarious.
i just hope that when this show comes out everyone realises that it was NBC that made it horrible. not the australians.
