I rather see it at 7:30. I don't want to ruin the whole thing just by watching a small bit. If you honestly knew the meaning of the lighting of the torch you wouldn't have spoiled it for everyone else.

This has got to be the worst time for the Olympics. Everybody is protesting! I thought the Olympics were suppose to bring the world together? Having them in China was a bad idea..just my opinion.

i can't believe the ignorance that's out there. the opening ceremonies in Beijing are one of the most SPECTACULAR in history. Chinese people are joining in the singular cause to show their best to the world. yes, every country has its problems, and China is no exception. however, there is no denying the country's greatness. to stand there and adamantly insist that the Olympics this year are not worth watching is really affecting no one but yourself. you're missing out on a global phenomenon and that just sucks for you.
Re: onlyme – lol about 25 years ago, when I was in a pro-union state of mind (I still am, but, it has been refined, and adjusted, over the years), I told a family friend that I was only going to buy US products. His response? 'Well, looks like you will be doing without, quite a bit'. lol
The opening ceremony was amazing! The most beautiful part of the whole ceremony was when Sarah Brightman started to sing..!!! Oh my.. her voice is one of a kind. I've never heard such an angelic voice, so pure.. She's a huge star in China.. I love her!
I stated this, in the previous Olympic thread, but, I will say it again……
I have read most of the comments, here…and I respect all of your opinions. But, I am still going to watch the opening ceremony and games….as I have, every 4 years, for all of my 43 years.

i saw it on you tube - as i went to set the vid back (it was no longer advailable) oh well at least i saw the torch lighting!

At point's creepy how much like a cult they seem to be. However at other times you can only watch in awe how dexterous creative and focused they are to come together to pull of such a performance.
WOW!!! I knew it was going to fabulous, but it was way, way, way better than I imagined. So graceful yet exciting! So beutifully choreographed. What imagination. Just stunning. It will be eons before this show is eclipsed. Good job, China. You spent our money well.

I thought YouTube had a black out on that and it is still blacked out on showing the opening ceremony? You know, so us in the U.S. wouldn't get the surprise ending since we were on like a 12 hour time delay!
