Such sad news.
Comedian Bernie Mac died early Saturday morning from complications due to pneumonia.
This was confirmed by his publicist.
He was only 50-years old.
As y'all know, the funny man had been hospitalized for about a week.
A few years ago, Mr. Mac disclosed that he suffered from sarcoidosis, a rare autoimmune disease that causes inflammation in tissue, most often in the lungs. However, his reps claimed early on that the bout of pneumonia he was fighting had nothing to do with the sarcoidosis.
He's survived by his wife Rhonda McCullough, their daughter, Je'Niece, a son-in-law and a granddaughter, Jasmine.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Man this sucks. It's hard to be on the other side of the computer, to be a fan, to never have known him - and for it to be real. Just like Heath Ledger, its so hard to realize that they are gone forever. It doesn't really sink in all the way if you never knew them. Anyways, bless his family a million times. He was so funny. I just was laughing at him in Transformers a couple weeks ago - UNCLE BOBBY B BABY! (I think that was his name)

This is so sad! I was woken up by TONS of R.I.P texts from everyone but when I read it on Perez I KNEW it wasn't a rumor this time. FUNNY MAN, he will definitely be missed.

I was very sadden to hear the news. I have been keeping up w/the status of Bernie Mac via perezhilton & TMZ. My prayers and thoughts are with his family. It's tough when you lose a persona who is put on this earth to make us laugh.

When news first broke out of Mr. Mac being hopitalized, both your sites were communicating bullshit by telling people that maybe if Bernie stays off the crack, he would be fine. DAMN. Well, you can just close up the "Ocean's" franchise. Despite Clooney , Pitt, Damon & Co., These movies would have been crap without Bernie Mac. I just loved this guy. Greatest comedian in years. Seemed like a helluva man, too. Rest in peace, my friend. I hope we have a public funeral here in Chicago. The people here have great respect for Mr. Mac.

i had the pleasure of meeting him at a charity fundraiser that I was working.. he did a very light comedy show. I bumped into him several times and he was always a gentleman..

This is my last post at PerezHilton.com. Any reference to it on my computer will be deleted today. I will never be back. And I fully expect Perez or his team to censor and/or delete it, but here goes:
I have been coming here for a laugh from time to time for years I guess. The site was always tongue in cheek light hearted. A few squiggle lines here, a funny story there. Then in the last year or so it got a lot darker. If you were to ask me, Perez is the new John Edwards: so narcissistic and full of himself, so egotistical, that he thinks this site is about him. And with that, the license he has given himself to be cruel, crude, a liar and unfunny is now over for me.
A week ago when he posted the Bernie Mac news that he was sick in a hospital, Perez took the liberty to say that Bernie's cell condition (not pneumonia) was caused by drug use. And his writers here ripped him a new ass, rightly so. I was one of them. Now our funny and beloved Bernie Mac has died at 50. Perez, if I were you I would put down your pen today. Your fucked up ways of poking fun went too far here and he wasn't the first. There is going to come a day when you die I suppose, but I wonder what your legacy has done to anyone's future sympathy or lack thereof for you. Consider the damage you've done. You should be so fucking ashamed of yourself, but I doubt you feel a ping. Because it's all about you.
