Cheater/liar and former presidential candidate John Edwards has one thing going well for him.
His wife, Elizabeth Edwards, has vowed to stand by him!
Mrs. Edwards, who is battling incurable cancer, has released the following statement, after her husband admitted that he lied to the rest of us about his affair with that videographer whore:
Our family has been through a lot. Some caused by nature, some caused by human weakness, and some most recently caused by the desire for sensationalism and profit without any regard for the human consequences. None of these has been easy. But we have stood with one another through them all. Although John believes he should stand alone and take the consequences of his action now, when the door closes behind him, he has his family waiting for him.
John made a terrible mistake in 2006. The fact that it is a mistake that many others have made before him did not make it any easier for me to hear when he told me what he had done. But he did tell me. And we began a long and painful process in 2006, a process oddly made somewhat easier with my diagnosis in March of 2007. This was our private matter, and I frankly wanted it to be private because as painful as it was I did not want to have to play it out on a public stage as well. Because of a recent string of hurtful and absurd lies in a tabloid publication, because of a picture falsely suggesting that John was spending time with a child it wrongly alleged he had fathered outside our marriage, our private matter could no longer be wholly private. The pain of the long journey since 2006 was about to be renewed.
John has spoken in a long on-camera interview. Admitting one's mistakes is a hard thing for anyone to do. I am proud of the courage John showed by his honesty in the face of shame. The toll on our family of news helicopters over our house and reporters in our driveway is yet unknown. But now the truth is out, and the repair work that began in 2006 will continue. I ask that the public, who expressed concern about the harm John's conduct has done to us, think also about the real harm that the present voyeurism does and give me and my family the privacy we need at this time.
If things were 'over' back in 2006 like Edwards said they were, why the hell was he visiting with his old mistress, Rielle Hunter, now in 2008?
Johnny boy has also said that he's willing to take a paternity test to prove he's not the bastard baby's daddy.
Hunter's family is challenging the former Democratic candidate to follow through with the test.
The mistress' sister said, "Somebody must stand up and defend my sister. I wish that those involved would refrain from bad-mouthing my sister."
Sis also debunked claims that Rielle helped set up the National Enquirer sting at the Beverly Hills Hilton.
We have a feeling that more crazy shiz is about to go down!
And YOU KNOW John hasn't been completely forthcoming in his interviews!

Honestly, is this the most important thing we can be talking about? Surprise, surprise another politician has had an affair. Are you really shocked?! His political career is over, but it probably was when he ran for president the second time and didn't win. Our economy is in the pits. Our state politicians can't figure out how to compromise and get a budget while our state goes down the tubes. Russia is on the verge of war with Georgia and we're worried about this? SILLY. The only people who need to worry about this are him and his wife.

I'm bummed. His family has been through enough with the death of a child and his wife's cancer, plus the scrutiny that they'd gone through with a presidential election. Then he pulls this? How selfish can one person be? He is showing little regard for his family, and I doubt he'd have shown much regard for his fellow americans, either. I was disappointed he dropped out of the presidential race - now I'm relieved.
I have nothing but admiration for Elizabeth Edwards. It's easy to leave your husband, it's stronger to take YOUR vows seriously.

I hope, for her sake, that there are no other lies being told. If that baby turns out to be his it would devastate her. What was he doing visiting that woman in the wee hours last month? Why was he holding the baby? Sounds fishy to me. Blows my mind that he thought he'd get away with this…

I wish he would just admit the child is his. This mistress is a supposed American filmmaker, so I find it sort of interesting that she would "stoop" to allowing a campaign AIDE father her child. And even further funny to think that she is sleeping her way around the office after sleeping with the boss (Edwards). Sounds like Young (the aide) is a good, loyal fall guy, too bad he isn't going to get the benefit from it since Edwards career should pretty much be over.
Edwards admitted to not paying the mistress off but said that close friends or associates may have given her hush money without him knowing. Who in the heck says something like that??? GUILTY!

there is no good reason for meeting up with the mistress at 3:00 in the morning…..and apparently the wife did not know about this recent meeting. Let's say johnny boy did break it off in 2006, the only reason to meet now is because a shake down is getting ready to happen. Of course, since it is now public the mistress has lost her bargaining chip. I do think she is the one that tipped off the national inquirer….analysts on cnn want to know about the money trail. I don't feel so much for Elizabeth. She went into a presidential race with him (funded by many private donor's money) knowing he was a liar and a cheat. Edwards should refund that money to the people he duped. Also, if he isn't the father, why hasn't he already taken to paternity test to remove any doubt? Elizabeth Edwards is to be commended for her strength, her loyalty, etc, and I'd also like to say that I agree with the woman that though this has to have been incomprehensibly difficult for her and her family, it is not as if John Edwards is the first to walk this path. No human is exempt from the weakness' of our race. We ALL know people who have cheated, been cheated on, if we haven't done it ourselves.
It's sensational because he is a public figure and a politician, but he is a human. I quite agree that the press should let this story peter out…while there is money to be made, this is also a family going through unimaginable pain, regardless of who caused it. It is the last I will speak or read of this matter. I don't approve of what he did, but shit, it happens, it happens all the time. BTW, the other best president the country has ever had? Franklin Roosevelt. And he had a years long semi-open affair with a woman, the one who was with him when he died. Did it affect his job as president during WWII? No. Did the paparazzi freak out and publish salacious and lurid tales of adultery? No. Was it anyone's business but FDR's and Eleanor's? No.
