More sad news to report.

Isaac Hayes has passed away.

The legendary musician died early Sunday morning at his home in Memphis, Tennessee.

His wife found him on the floor near a treadmill inside his home. He was was taken to Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, where he was pronounced dead at 2:08 a.m.

Many might known Isaac from his music. Younger readers might know him best as the voice of "Chef" on South Park, a role he left because it conflicted with his Scientology beliefs.

Hayes was 65.

This has shocked the hell out of me, shit. It's completely out of the blue, he wasn't ill or anything was he!? 65 is still so young. I always hoped he'd return to South Park one day, it'll never be the same without him, that's for sure.

Wow, what a shock! He was really talented. Along with Bernie Mac, another talent, gone this week. Sad.

      Re: na3m
      lol that's so bad.

    9. 109

      Too bad!
Enjoyed his performances before he lost his sense of humour/mind for Scientology and left South Park.
In the days before videos, I liked his music but he scared me when he performed on the Oscars in chains.
      SHAFT! Daaaamn right.

      Re: Jasefita
He did the theme song for Shaft with the line "He's a bad mutha- shut yo' mouth". And was the voice of the Chef on South Park.

This is just been a crazy week NO scratch that crazy YEAR!!! Brad Renfro, Heath Ledger, Tim Russert, Estelle Getty, The Last Lecture Randy Pausch, Bernie Mac, now Issac??!?!?!
Odd enough, people die in three's……I don't know what else to expect. (P.S. Like I had a choice! lo :( )

    21. 121

Wow, I can't believe this…what a weekend. May God bless his family and friends. RIP Isaac.

    23. 123

So, it comes in three's 1st Bernie Mac, now Isaac, who's next????

    24. 124

      Re: Miss Dee
Oh God No!!!! Your serious?!?!!!??? Oh snap!!! My mother told me they seem to go out in three's. He could go to a safe house, yet death will find you one way or the other when your time is up.

I'm gonna relax a little with Samuel. He's survived being eaten by SHARKS and DINOSAURS and he lived AFTER the credits in Snakes on a Plane!!! LOL!!!

Thought I add some humor death is another reality check. :(

      125

Why is it they always die in threes???????

    26. 126

RIP. I may not agree with your cult, but you were a fantastic entertainer.

Scientologists, of course, will say that he "willingly dropped his body".

      Um, yeah.

Not if he had unfinished projects, he wouldn't have. I guess with Katie being pregnant with a new generation of Scientolotot, Isaac felt that he can go up to the mother ship.

    27. 127

Re: Jasmine Janee – People were speculating on the curse of "The Dark Knight" with Heath Ledger's death and Morgan Freeman almost buying the biscuit. You can bet you will see headlines that "Soul Men" is also cursed with the Mac Man and the Shaft Man dying one after the other. The movie is scheduled to come out in the fall and has other talents in it like Sean Hayes, (the ubiquitous and hilarious Jack in Will & Grace) Jennifer Coolidge, and John Legend! The movie is about two estranged soul-singing legends (Jackson and Mac) who have not spoken to one another for twenty years, who agree to participate in a reunion performance at the Apollo Theater to honor their recently deceased band leader (John Legend). Creepy…if I'd been in that movie I'd be checking under my bed and making sure the boogiemen in the closet have plenty of snacks before I go to sleep. Seriously, I can't even begin to imagine what the cast and crew are thinking right now…besides they're obvious mortality…

      chef was funny.

    29. 129

They all stared in "Soul Men" and now they're dieing one-by-one. Creepy.

    30. 130

Perhaps with all of the extra money that Heath Ledger's death brought to The Dark Night…
      .
MAYBE SOMEONE IS KILLING THE 'SOUL MEN' ACTORS TO TRY AND HAVE THAT MOVIE MAKE MORE MONEY?
      .
After all, Soul Men is in Post-production right now and is due out shortly.

    31. 131

      why is everyone dying?

      RIP

    32. 132

RIP Isaac Hayes mayb god bless you and your family

    36. 136

      Amazing man.
Pity, he did the way his character did, but not as brutal. DDD :

      Goodbye, Children.

It's probably all because of Elron Hubbard and Scientology…

    37. 137

      R.I.P. to a talented man!

    38. 138

Chocolate Salty Balls for the Grim Reaper!

    39. 139

    40. 140

      So very sad…

I'm not trying to sound insensitive but does anyone know what Scientologists believe happen after they die?
