China's Opening Ceremony Lies

reddress.jpg

There was no need to fake!

Beijing's Olympics Games Opening Ceremony would have been brilliant without some of the faking shiz that's now coming to light.

When we heard about the fake fireworks bruhaha, in our minds we gave China a 'pass' because of the 'safety' excuse issued.

But the latest scandal that has emerged has wound us up!

Remember that little girl in red (left photo) who 'sang' and captured our hearts?

Well, turns out she was lip synching!

Apparently, the 'real' singer (pictured to the right) wasn't cute enough to perform.

A Chinese official said, "The main consideration was the national interest. The child on the screen should be flawless in image, in her internal feelings, and in her expression."

It just doesn't seem right for a government to be all "Hollywood".

The U.S. would have let a less cute, better singer take center stage at a national event, right?

    omg. how stupid!

  2. 2

    Somehow, this doesn't surprise me.

  3. 3

They pulled a BRIT BRIT!!!

  4. 4

THAT'S SO MEAN!!! I feel bad for the girl that they had to "hide" so that the prettier one could go on stage and take all the credit. That's fucked up!!! Reminds me of when I worked at Walt Disney World, as a face character performer, and the actual singers were hidden under the stage.

  5. 5

America would def do the same shiz!

  6. 6

I totally expect that from China. What a disgrace.

    7

Americans would have done the same thing only we wouldn't have been as honest about it.

  8. 8

    That sure sucks O.O

  9. 9

I read that the opening ceremony fireworks were in part computer generated images for broadcast.

  10. 10

    Damn
    Thats f*cked up

  11. MEA says – reply to this
    11

No, the US is just as lame…

  12. 12

I don't understand why people are still watching these olympics. Everything about them is shady! Boycott this insult to the world!

  13. 13

the most shallow thing i've ever heard

  14. 14

    Unbelievable!
    What else are They faking???????

  15. 15

You'd think in a country of x-billion, they could dredge up cute AND talented….

  16. 16

No way!!! That is sooo wrong!

  17. 17

awwww…..the girl on the right is plenty cute enough!!!
    Chinkin A-HOLES!!!

  18. 18

Communism at its best people. This is what our American Liberals strive for.

  19. 19

that is horrible !! that poor child……. don't ever tell a little girl she's not pretty enough to sing. WTF is wrong with people? FUCK CHINA; fucking bitches

  20. 20

Of corse the U.S. would replace her!! If anyone is fixated on outer image it is the U.S.A. It is horrible and sad and the fact that there is no apology is even worse.

  21. 21

Girl on the right is cuter, imo. They should have let her perform.
The one on the left creeped me out when I saw her singing. I knew it was probably fake; her manic faux enthusiasm was weird.

  22. 22

well the little girl in red is considerably cuter then the other one. however it does make them look like jackasses for doing it. Is anyone really surprised that China is doing this stuff? We've uncovered to fakes, I bet there's a thousand more that haven't been discovered. China would do anything to pull of the image they want. At the expense of anyone or anything.

  23. 23

Re: Andy27 – whatever retard… you were a fluffer and you know it

  24. 24

    can you say…..Milli Vanilli????

  25. 25

In the US they would have made the less cute girl look like a perfect little girl next door.

  26. Shine says – reply to this
    26

So "real Singer" is cute! She is a little girl. This is horrible if it is true. Do you have proof?

  27. 27

Why does this surprise anybody? China is all about appearences over reality. They will give speeches talking about this being an environmentally friendly olympics yet they have something like 7 of the top ten most polluted cities in the world there and aren't doing anything to slow it.

  28. 28

    Wow that's terrible.

  29. 29

I don't quite get what the big deal was about the fake fireworks. As I watching it, I'm pretty sure they mentioned that more than once, like it wasn't a secret or anything. Let's face it, if that part was real it most likely would have somehow screwed up so I was much obliged to watch what I did.

But this part, the little girl thing, is pretty bad. I can't see that happening anywhere else without there being major backlash.

  30. 30

That girl is probably scared for life.

  31. 31

Oh puh-lease the U.S. Government would so do something like this. Criticizing China for it just makes you hypocrites.

  32. 32

WHO GIVES A SHIT! IT'S ABOUT THE ATHLETES!

  33. 33

I also heard that Chinas gymnastics team are really a bunch of midgets in costumes!!!

  34. 34

Re: Andy27 – I know…I agree with you 100%. I used to work at Disney World too…when did you work there?? I worked at MGM at the restaurant right by the Rockin' Roller Coaster.

  35. 35

That's sad and disgusting. How must the real singing child have felt?? I'm sorry, your face can't be shown because you aren't "cute" enough?! We've always known how important China's "image" is to them, this is just another example of how far they will go to project that obviously fake mirage.

  36. 36

I don't believe the BS that those little girls doing gymnastics are 16 either!!! They look like they're 12 years old!!!

  37. 37

That's mean, the girl on the right is just as pretty.

  38. 38

    thats fucked up

  39. 39

Come on…they put on a good show - looking at all the details ruins the illusion.

You live in LA - does anyone, anyone at all, have real boobs or nose or teeth or hair or even tan there? People don't even dress themselves - they have stylists.

Remember one SuperBowl when Whitney Houston lip synced the National Anthem - and they even timed the Air Force Jet fly over in the tape recording? Why did they do that? Speaking of the Superbowl - when was the last time anyone sang live during that?

Of course at big events like this there are some fake outs. It would naive to think that. We do it, they do it and so will London when their turn comes.

  40. 40

I've also gotta say that I don't think the U.S. would have done the same thing. I think that's bullshit.

  41. 41

~And you are surprised by this, why?
    ~ Communisim at it's finest.

  42. 42

Honestly? I kind of agree with China. Though I do think they could have ried harder to find a talented, cute girl, rather than just be lazy and do this.

  43. 43

Performances at this sort of scale are ALWAYS lip-synched no matter how talented the singer; even Björk was made to lip-synch when she performed at the opening ceremonies in 2004. This isn't nearly as big a deal as you seem to think it is. I am sure the U.S. would have done the same, but perhaps cover it up better.

  44. 44

"The U.S. would have let a less cute, better singer take center stage at a national event, right?"

No, doubt it. The US could even be the one responsible for this 'image over talent' thing.

  45. 45

China's democracy is all Hollywood. Pure CG effects.

  46. I.Z. says – reply to this
    46

Duh, from the very first notes she took it was clear the girl was lipsyncing and Perez puts it on his site like the biggest news of the day.

  47. 47

    Disgracefull, How shallow! :@.

  48. 48

Both those little girls are going to grow up dead inside.
America wouldn't have done that, because they make sure their little girls are cute and can sing and can dance and can act.

  49. berli says – reply to this
    49

DISGUSTING, plain and simple. They should be ashamed.

  50. 50

They are both beautiful children. How sad that their country doesn't realize it.

  51. 51

Eventhough I think that the girl on the right is clearly cute enough, it is all about the looks these days. Not only in China but all over the world. The USA would have done the same thing.. Difference would be that the US would keep it a secret…

  52. 52

This is stupid. That little girl on the right is cute too, the only difference I could see is longer hair and straight teeth on the lip syncher. Lame China, lame

  53. bouge says – reply to this
    53

The little girl on the right is cuter anyway. The one on the left looks like she might stab you if you look away. Perfection doesn't always mean cuter. I would have much rather seen the little girl with the big round eyes, and cute, crooked smile. She's the type of little girl that makes you say "aww" when you see them.
It's too bad she's going to be scarred for life now- and for no good reason.

  54. 54

That makes me so mad! That little girl is equally as cute!! That is so rude! She's going to remember that for the rest of her life!
