Hope the jeweler has a new store policy!
On Wednesday, rapper Lil' Wayne was ordered by a Miami judge to pay New Orleans jeweler Jack Sutton $146K.
The Lollipop man reportedly purchased a $138,000 diamond ring and $32,000 gold-and-diamond necklace from the jeweler in October 2006. They did the deal by phone, with Carter promising to make monthly payments, Sutton says.
The rapper sent one $24,000 installment, Sutton sent him the jewelry, but then Wayne quit paying.
That's a load of money! Why didn't he demand full payment before releasing the jewels?!
The jeweler filed suit last October, but it took eight months to serve Lil' Wayne with a copy of the complaint.
A source says Wayne may return the $138,000 ring — rather than pay the cash.
He should've returned the ring earlier!

I agree, that the jeweler should have demanded full payment (or, at least, the amount that it cost the jeweler, before the markup and taxes) before he handed it over. That wasn't highly intelligent, of him/her.

A really good 1 carate is 3-5 thousand, 2 carat 15 thousand, 3 carat 50 thousand, 4 carat 120 thousand, 5 carat 200 thousand easily. The Hope diamond is over 45 carats. Queen Elizabeth II holds the record with the Star of Africa which is over 3,000 carats.

Re: pumpkin – I stand corrected. My engagement ring and wedding band did not cost anywhere near $138,000…and it is 1 carat. Since I don't normally follow the diamond trade, that is what prompted my inquiry into the ring that Lil' Wayne 'bought'.
I have seen the Hope Diamond, at the Smithsonian Institute, and it's a magnificent thing. I hope to, one day, see the Star of Africa…I can only imagine what that looks like.
