Congratufuckinglations to the U.S. Olympic swimmer!
Not only did he win his 10th gold in the 200-meter men's butterfly on Wednesday, but Michael Phelps ALSO won his 11th gold along with his teammates in the 800-meter freestyle relay.
And, Phelps and his teammate set a new world record!!!!
Russia took the silver and Australia earned the bronze.
This is Michael's 5th gold medal at these games. He's just 3 more away from breaking the old record of most golds one in one games, set by swimmer Mark Spitz almost 40 years ago.
Phelps is now one of the most decorated Olympians of all time.
With 11 total (and more to possibly come), Michael has more Olympic gold medals than anyone else in history.

ok, phelps is great and all (obviously)… however, it really turned me off that he was talking and laughing with one of the other swimmers on the platform during the star spangled banner… just seems a little disrespectful, he should realize that all eyes are on him

So I love Phelps but Perez when are you going to write an article about the Chinese cheating and making falsified passports for their young women's gymnastics team??? This is really bothersome to me!!!! yes technically the USA has more medals then the USA but China has more gold medals then the USA. The Women's gymnasts Events are without a doubt the most highly coveted summer Olympics events. How can the Olympics committee let the Chinese get away with this???? It makes me wonder what other actions the Chinese are taking to insure they come out on top!!!!!!

I've never been a huge fan of the Olympics, but wow, Michael Phelps is fucking awesome and has totally gotten me stoked. It's so exciting to watch him swim and I hope he knocks out the next three races. Go MP!

He's probably the greatest ever Olympian, but he does NOT have the most medals ever. A female gymnast (Eastern European, too lazy to google her name) has a haul of 18! Though there are more events in gymnastics that a competitor can win medals in.

Christ, that guy's spectatacular. I try to go against the flow with trying to find fault with him, but he's never faltered. His first leg in the 4 x 200 m. relay was flawless. By the time he was done, the race was already won, and we were just seeing how badly they could smash the world record. And smash it, they did! Too bad he hasn't got any events today. Only three more events :__;.
His face is blah (I've never been about faces), but his bod is banging. That guy probably bleeds gold.

It wasn't even a race. Phelps was able to get the US team so far ahead of the other teams….that, unless one of the other US swimmers cramped up, they were clearly going to win.

Re: fagsrus – I agree with you…the Olympics is not only about swimming. But, when an athlete (or team) is going for a certain number of medals, or trying to beat WR's…it's going to get hyped up quite a bit, especially in their home country. I imagine that the teams representing their homeland (such as China and Japan) are talked about, and scrutinized, over there……just as much as Phelps is, here, in the US.
I have been watching as many of the competitions, as I am able to…regardless if the US is competing, or not (such as archery, water polo, and equestrian events). And, I am in awe of the stamina, strength, concentration and sportsmanship of these fine athletes (and, the horses in the equestrian events).
If you don't want to hear or read about swimming competitions….just don't click on the threads with Phelps' photo or name, or change the channel on the TV.
He reminds me of JOhn Kerry–which is not a good thing. Talented man, though! He needs to get a dentist to pro-bono him for some work. Loves him, but EEK, don't smile, sweetie.
