In case you didn't know, Full House's Uncle Joey, comedian Dave Coulier was the inspiration for Alanis Morissette's legendary breakthrough song, You Oughta Know.

Now,he's finally talking about it!

In a new interview, Coulier reveals where he was when he first heard the song and how he eventually patched things up with his 'angry' ex:

Coulier was driving when he first heard it. "I said, 'Wow, this girl is angry.' And then I said, 'Oh man, I think it's Alanis.' . . . I listened to the song over and over again, and I said, 'I think I have really hurt this person.' I tried to contact her and I finally got a hold of her. And at the same time, the press was calling and saying, 'You want to comment on this song?' I called her and I said, 'Hi. Uh, what do you want me to say?' And she said, 'You can say whatever you want.' We saw each other and hung out for an entire day. And it was beautiful. It was one of those things where it was kind of like, 'We're good.' "

We never would have pegged Uncle Joey as such a heartbreaker!

    BLAH BLAH BLAH

  8. 8

It's not Uncle Joey. It's just Joey. The dad's friend…

  9. 9

Joey was not an uncle. Jesse was their uncle.

  10. 10

Ummm He wasn't Uncle Joey on Full House….he was just Joey. It was Uncle Jessie and then Danny's best friend Joey…. get it right.

  11. 11

Oh please. The only person that went down on a theater were the five fingers on Dave's right hand.

    12

man, that song really was DEEP, no?

  13. 13

    he was never uncle joey
    just joey
    not a family member

  14. 14

He seems kinda clueless and a tool.

  15. 15

Looks like you better start watching Nick-At-Night, Perez to get your facts straight! :P

Good they patched things up, have no clue why after all this time he would comment on this song NOW.

Hey, it was a bad break up, but she got a hell of a lot of money singing about it! I would be ok then too. Hahaha. :P

  16. 16

Does that mean Alanis really DID go down on Uncle Joey in a theatre? How else would he know it was about him?!?!

  17. 17

He hurt me everytime he did that stupid Bullwinkle imitation. Is he gonna call me?

  18. 18

she was 15 and he was a married man - uncle joey isn't the nice guy here at all. except in his own mind maybe….

  19. 19

    i can't believe she dated him… eek

  20. 20

Oh, Uncle Joey - stop trying to be relevant.

  21. 21

Wow! I didn't know any of this. I thought it was her manager or some obscure guy. Anyway, every female on the face of the earth could relate in some way.

I can't believe she was heartbroken over…this. I mean, Dave Coulier isn't exactly Brad Pitt, I didn't think he could have such an impact on her, let alone be an inspiration for such a legendary song. Thankfully, Alanis' taste in men has greatly improved since, if her dating Ryan Reynolds is anything to go by.

  23. 23

I wouldn't have hung out with him later and said "We're good." Keep him always looking over his shoulder for what he did.

    24

Hmph! I always pegged him as a "sofasectional" ?!

  25. 25

WASN'T SHE A MINOR WHEN THEY DATED

  26. 26

ugh, that kind of ruins the song for me

  27. 27

    Ewwwwwwwwwww - 15? Seriously?
    Jesus Christ on a cracker!!

    28

…it's a guy from her hometown… Dave only wishes.

  29. 29

    bleh, who cares?

  30. 30

to Letty B, the song about her manager is called "hands clean"

and on the show full house, his name isn't UNCLE JOEY. it's just joey. I think you're thinking of Uncle Jesse. haha

  31. 31

Re: LaLaLams – the song about her manager is called ”hands clean”

  32. 32

WHAT?!! Ahhh, come ooon! All her screeching was about THAT dude?

  33. OSSIM says – reply to this

    33

He should get with her and stay with her…

  34. 34

I hate to put a face on this song, I really thought it was a very passionate and emotional song and Dave Coulier is sooo mushy and simple… now i hate the song… thanks!

  35. .joy. says – reply to this

    35

eww. I don't think I can listen to that song ever again.

  36. 36

Damn Joey! that was you???! (LOL)

  37. 37

    Re: thisissabatoge
    HAHAHAAHAHAHAHAH
    TRUE

  38. 38

Ugh- creepy. Isn't he like 10 years older than her? That means they were dating when Alanis was around 18 and he was at least in his 30s. YUCK! What is it with all the stars from 'Full House," the only normal one with a decent career still is Uncle Jesse!!! (John Stamos) Remember - Joye was not even their real uncle, that was just a nickname/title given to him by the kids, he was just a good friend of the dad. OK, now plz shoot me for even knowing that!

  39. 39

Ewwww. The thought of her going down on him in a theatre just made me throw up in my mouth a lil.

  40. 40

what?!?!??! never saw that one coming!!!

  41. 41

Joey is Mr. Duplicity? ….what ??!!! I'm kinda impressed!!

  42. 42

"We never would have pegged Uncle Joey as such a heartbreaker!"
That's because Uncle Joey is not the same as Dave Coulier, that's just a character he plays!

  43. D-Bag says – reply to this

    43

What was Alanis thinking? This guy is totally fug and he isn't even funny. Whoever "went down on him in a theatre" must be one ugly cunt.

  44. 44

well…he doesn't seem like someone that you could get all worked over. That said, he pobably has a big woodie knowing that a hit song was written about him and peeps are still talking about it 10 years later. And Alanis is STILL bitter.

  45. 45

All this time I thought it was Joey from friends, Matt LeBlanc, and I could never see that match! This makes so much more sense!

  46. 46

the funniest thing is imagining her giving him a BJ in a theater.

  47. 47

Isn't the song about her ex manager, whom she had an affair with when she was underage? I don't think it's about Dave.

  48. 48

I forgot that this guy even existed…he's been out of the spotlight, for so long. Must be wanting to make a comeback, so he makes a comment about the only interesting thing that he can think of….a song that was released years ago.

  49. 49

Damnit! I loved that song, and now I find out it's about Dave Coulier! Shit.

  50. 50

Re: thedude – Hey, man, I love your name and picture! That's a great movie.

  51. 51

    LOVE Alanis-HATE Canada

  52. 52

    Awww. That's a nice tidbit.

  53. 53

    EWWWWWWWW!!!!!
    Why him?!
She was like 17 or 18 when that song came out.
It should of been that John stamos guy.
